go see for yourself. When you scale back cleaning, dont fix elevators (in a highrise) etc thats pretty much wanton reckless and disregard for peoples safety.
Then don't move into one of those buildings.

On the premises it is private property and therefore not to responsibility of the authorities. Am landlord, understand my responsibilities. Yes individuals health is their own job, but you must do everything within your power to make it so the individual can reasonably be expected to maintain their own health.

I own a property that I rent, and while the tenant is responsible for their own health and safety, so am I. I can and should be held liable for expecting the tenant to perform measures beyond reasonableness to ensure that health and safety.

I believe there's only one elevator working (so that's definitely a Medallion problem) and the other issue not highlighted was the outbreak declaration (started in March, declared a month later) later than it should have been. So the city should share some responsibility too in this problem.

We need housing! Let's build housing! My neighborhood? Oh, hell nah!

Sadly, they're probably just going to wind up building like 20 or 25 SF homes there. That'll increase density by a whopping 60-80 people!

Townhouses, I'd think. Maybe a small building, 6-10 floors max. This is an ambitious proposal but I feel it's not out of line with the neighbourhood, as re-envisioned. The first version with the 18- and 20-storey towers was probably a bit much, but density is warranted.

And there's a case to keep retail on the site. At least a drug store as the biggest part, with some of the other current occupants.

I worked part-time as a grocery clerk in that grocery store when it was Fortinos. For one of the smallest stores in the chain, it did quite well and it was a busy place especially Thursdays through Saturdays (and Sundays when shopping on that day was made possible). But the demographics of the area have changed a lot. When I visited as a Foodland it was pretty sad by comparison.

A small "market" store could do ok especially if it replaced the Avondale, but not much more (and I bet the CIBC closes)

This is going to sail right through OLT. The building NEXT DOOR is also 12 storeys. There's zero reason to deny this. I may watch the planning committee meeting to hear why tf they thought that was a good idea.

When does this go to the OLT, agree will get approved there and we will once again wasted a bunch of time and taxpayer dollars.

The city has won a couple of times recently at the OLT, but not this one. What a waste of staff time and tax revenue while it gets delayed?
