I thought I read recently, although I could be wrong, that HRM's response to this request was essentially "not our pig, not our farm", since it was approved as a Special Planning Area, and the developers were welcomed to bring up their concerns with the Province. But in essence, HRM planning would not be granting these changes.

I came across this document which is an amendment to the DA for this site. It aims to align the development with the new HAF policies for desired density for transit oriented development. The four midrise blocks in the back of the site all got one extra floor added while what was a 12 floors building proposed directly behind the Sobeys office building has been bumped up to 26 floors.
And while not contained in this, I had heard that the two towers proposed up near Portland Street will be getting large height increases as well.
