Given the developer I would rank it as extremely likely.

Is there a City of Hamilton website, where you can track the current applications? Similar to the one publicly available for the City of Toronto?

https://www.hamilton.ca/develop-prop...ations-mapping

It unfortunately doesn't post application files like Toronto's does, but it does provide text descriptions of projects.

Apparently Hamilton is working on updating it to work more like Toronto's with posting application files as well, but that's been "pending" for quite a while now.

They are apparently currently working on reworking the website. My hope is that we will finally get a website that has much more information available to the public.

Was walking up James today and noticed that they have all of Jackson Street East fenced off, from James to Hughson Street.

That sounds pretty interesting, perhaps the rendering is a bit further along!

I would prefer if they simply continued the verticals to the top, rather than the 90 degree turns to the right (and the one that starts on the tallest portion and continues on to the middle is awkward)

Dark brick or panelling on the base would be better in my opinion too. No need to try to contrast with the glass, or incorporate the colour of the old Liuna building.

I like the street level with the varied retail facades but everything above that needs some serious redesign!

also, it's G+C so we know it'll probably end up with cladding looking like this:

I know we haven't seen Cobalt's finished product yet, but the Liuna/ Hi-Rise combo seemed like they had a really good thing going with good design in Hamilton. How did this happen?

Has this been past the DRP yet? Not that I think their influence would lead to massive improvement, but perhaps some of the features could change.

I'll hold out hope that it will look better in the end.

Is 75 James Street South right below the escarpment? If so at a 100m wouldn't that put it above the mountain brow given the elevation of 75 James Street South?

Heh, up the page a bit we were confused about where this is, Google maps confuses James St. with the James Mountain Road. This site is the southern half of the block bound by Hughson, Jackson, James, and Main Streets. Interestingly, that alley has a name - Chancery Lane.

She won't win any beauty pageants, but I think it's improved compared to the original renders... lotsa balconies, but the awkward vertical and horizontal elements seem to be gone.

I agree, I think it looks fine. Much needed density around the GO station. Can't wait to see this one break ground. The demolition of the existing building on the property appears to be starting.

It's going to be quite a summer for Hamilton, lots of projects are breaking ground.

Jackson street is closed from James to Hughson as well as a lane on James street. Concrete barriers and protected scaffolding being installed now.
