Yup, wish they would have kept the Trebla name for history's sake. All in all though, great project. Love to see these office to residential adaptive re-use developments.

Looking good. Here's a new (?) rendering of the ground floor, from their website:

Sorry for the size. Dimensions were reasonable on the website.

If there's one area of the city that can stand to have a few black towers, it's the Escarpment District.

Makes sense that they would paint it, the existing concrete pieces are in pretty rough shape and have obvious patches in a lot of places.

That's certainly a lot lighter than the black in the renders.

I guess it really is true then, all old buildings in Ottawa will eventually be painted RLA Gray/White. Monochrome City.

Still a nice contrast to the multiple beige towers in the area today, but the dark black in the renders looked sleek

That render must be a bit of an illusion as the colours are very similar between the render and the actual paint. I'm sure it will feel darker once its fully painted and the dark vertical elements are installed.

Left is pulled from the photo, right is from the render

Don't know why black and charcoal are some prominent. You'd think with summers of 30-40 degrees becoming the standard that they would move towards lighter colours.

In any case, I think in the context of this area, with lots of beige and light-grey towers, this re-clad will look good and give the place a bit more visual interest.

'The Slayte'. Ottawa...where we paint every old building charcoal and/or white, and give them ridiculous names. (and literally everything becomes 'Luxury Rentals')

We have a thread for this one, still called Trebla (which was a way better name, since you know, it's on Albert and not Slater).

Welcome to The Slayte: Crafted living in the heart of downtown Ottawa

Iris Winston • Postmedia Content Works
Publishing date:Aug 05, 2022

The Slayte at 473 Albert St. is about to become one of the most sought-after addresses in Ottawa’s downtown core.

Described as an adaptive reuse project by its developers, CLV Group Developments Inc. (on behalf of building owner InterRent REIT), The Slayte is the transformation of a 1970s office building. Reinvented through the sophisticated design of award-winning architecture firm Linebox Studio and the work of Bassi Construction, the revitalized building promises to combine comfort and convenience with luxury for its residents.

InterRent, together with the experience brought by CLV Group Developments, identified 473 Albert as an ideal building to convert into residential instead of tearing it down. The innovative approach has created a high-end rental community, complete with amenities such as concierge services, underground parking, ground-floor patio oasis, business centre, fitness centre, yoga studio and exclusive rooftop experience that comes complete with an indoor lounge and event kitchen, hot tub, barbecues, pizza oven, lounge areas, firepits and more.

Materials not needed in the reconstruction were donated to Habitat for Humanity and other local causes as part of a commitment to reuse and recycle.

The building is expected to be ready for occupancy in September and offers a range of suites among the 158 rental units, from studios, one-bedroom and one-bedroom-plus-den to two-bedroom and two-bedroom-plus-den, as well as two terrace suites on the first floor.

All suites are luxuriously appointed, with high ceilings and large windows for plenty of natural light, walk-in showers, quartz countertops, under-cabinet lighting, luxury vinyl plank flooring and ceramic tile. All suites come with washer and dryer and stainless-steel appliances.

Meanwhile, resident lifestyles are enhanced thanks to the well-landscaped rooftop and grounds and the proximity to cycling paths and plenty of green spaces, with a nearby dog park (all CLV Group and InterRent buildings are pet-friendly).

The Slayte is conveniently located just 250 metres from the Lyon Street LRT station. With further expansion of this and other lines in progress and planned, accessing the Macdonald-Cartier Airport or family and friends outside the city core will be simple, speedy and direct.

Other nearby amenities include new retail outlets downtown, the new Ottawa Public Library at LeBreton Flats just 300 metres from The Slayte, and the proposed new arena for the Ottawa Senators also at LeBreton Flats. These and many more add yet another dimension to the easy lifestyle that will come with crafted living in a welcoming, secure building that meets all your needs in the centre of the city.

Feeling really good about this project. With the right mix of retail, it could liven-up this corner of the Escarpment District. With Moon and M+M/Rimap projects, the Occo Kitchen at Bay and this, we may actually draw people from the CBD down to the Flats.

After the Albert/Slater renewals are complete, hope we'll see some work on the Queen Julliana Apartments with a new podium over the parking lot, maybe a re-clad of its own.
