Ha, I know two of the six people they chose to feature.

Granted, I don't know them terribly well; we're not close or anything. But I've definitely met them and hung out with them several times. Ryan and Andrew are good dudes.

Here's are my last few event videos. I'm really having fun with this. Trying to see if I can do the FIBA basketball game next. I might do the music festivals but that might be too much for a one man job.

I've been putting together these monthly Ottawa music video roundups for shiftermagazine.com since last October. It's really interesting to see the quality of the music videos coming out of this city. Some of them feature the city in different ways. Here are a few from January:

Here's the full January list. http://www.shiftermagazine.com/music...oundup-january

On a side note, I didn't see a thread for videos of Ottawa. Maybe someone can change this thread to a general Ottawa videos thread.

Ottawa from above

Hi guys. I have recently picked up a DJI Mavic Mini. According to Canadian law it is not a 'Drone' or a 'Remotely Piloted Aircaft System'. I am a licensed pilot of my other 'Drone'/'RPAS' systems but this new device is a magical little thing that doesn't require licensing, is smaller than a cell phone, weighs just over half of what a pop can weighs, can not hurt a plane or helicopter, and is completely unrestriced in Canada. It is classified as a toy and it REALLY is just a toy at 249 grams, yet it has a very capable camera. It is made of foam with a plastic shell and the battery pack is about the same weight and size as two AA batteries. I am starting this thread for you guys because I am now able to shoot any project in the city from any angle and I would love to get some requests.

I'm guessing you're not allowed to fly it near Parliament Hill. Some close ups would be cool.

DJI, the maker of this awesome small "drone" (can we call it this?) knew that most regulations across Europe and North America have decided that anything weighing more than 250 grams is considered a drone and could negatively affect aircraft or other objects. DJI, being the largest drone maker in the world, has developed this Mavic Mini to be under this weight limit. By 1 gram. Good for them... but with how cheap this drone is, I'm sure many people will buy this and fly it irresponsibly. All it will take is one accident and it will be ruined for everyone. I am not referring to Harley here - he clearly knows his stuff and is licensed for his other drones. Keep up the awesome shots!! But it is not a coincidence that this drone weights 1 gram under the legal limit to fly almost anywhere

Regarding Parliament Hill:

Quote:
Restricted Area
Designated Altitude - Surface to 3000ft
Time of Designation - Cont
User/Controlling Agency - RCMP [email protected] or (613) 952-4200
Operating Procedures - No person shall operate an aircraft, including model aircraft, within the area described unless the flight has been authorized by the User/Controlling Agency, except for medical, police and military aircraft on official duty flights and IFR flights.
From Transport Canada:
Quote:
Micro drones (under 250 grams) and drones that weigh more than 25 kilograms
Micro drones (under 250 grams) and drones that weigh more than 25 kilograms do not fall into the basic or advanced operations categories. If you have a micro drone, you must never put people or aircraft in danger. Always fly responsibly.

How about the SJAM Parkway west of Dominion where they recently diverted the westbound lanes?

Great pics by the way.

Most folks going for the scenic images. I would like to see aerials of some of the roughest neighbourhoods in Ottawa - such as Richie Street. I know what is on the ground but it would be interesting to see (for me) the general development as an over all view.

I realize I put this in the wrong section, if a mod could change it to Ottawa Photos that would be great!

I see the requests and I will get them all soon, with the exception of Parliament close ups. I am happy to take more requests as well so long as they are not within 560 metres of the Peace Tower or directly adjacent to an airport. I can fly the Mini anywhere else in the city legally. Here are new shots of the Island Park Towers and Agora in the Plateau, and a couple from other threads.

Here are two from today : 'Selection Gatineau', a new 11 Story Senior's Residence under construction at 213 Blvd. De Grives in the Plateau. The following shot is 1161 Heron Road.
