I think I wouldn't dislike precast as much as I do if they didn't make the seams so obvious in places I have a feeling that won't go away

yea, it's just raw concrete, I imagine it will be painted before completion. Regardless it won't be a looker though.

Have to give Indwell a lot of credit for what they do on a shoestring, design-wise.

Hopefully these guys do apply some nicer makeup.

Plus, this is affordable housing - I'm not expecting anything extravagant anyways.
Good design does not cost more then a terrible design. The problem is that they are scrapping the bottom of the barrel using hideous materials. Living in and being surrounded by ugly buildings has a demonstated negative effect on the people that inhabit them.

Mhm, though the definition of 'ugly' can vary. I like anything with real walls over the 'trying to pretend to be windows' look that's so popular on many condo towers for instance.

Grey seems to be Hamilton's official colour now.

Another project I’ll give points to for speed. If nothing else.

You can't expect affordable housing to be gorgeous. In fact, it looks better than I thought it would.

And it's definitely better than what used to be there.

If the finished product will be faithful to the render, then that really doesn't look bad at all.... especially for this area and for affordable housing.

Not bad, hopefully it does look like updated image.

I don't get the fascination with random changes in colour or materials (sometimes shapes) that has been the trend -- e.g., those brown "wood" sections -- but whatever.

Darko could take a few cues from this for some of his builds... a sad truth.

Yep. You can see the post on April 1st when they started work on the foundation. Less than 7 months to get it from nothing to fully erected.
