I like that there's no podium, but rather a high covered space. Love how even the garbage chute room has a window. Judging from unit sizes, lowest price probably $1.5M?

I'm not saying Pender isn't needed; I'm saying it should be joined with Georgia at 90 degrees for the sake of creating a more walkable space.

More walkable space for who?? It's not a busy area and the sidewalk are nice and wide especially on Georgia (except on this lot but that will be fixed)

I wouldn't have minded seeing a more flat iron type triangle floor plate building with a crisp angle on pender/Georgia

Is Jim Cheng the same guy as James Cheng? If so, god help us! The busy eastern facade tells me that this will be another James Cheng mess with ten different ideas in one. That guy just cannot focus.

It's not bad if properly implemented. IF.

I agree that it will certainly be architecturally interesting, which is great. I just wish that there was more to attract people to the area to see the great cluster of design. A lot of people will never arrive in Vancouver via car driving over the Lion's Gate.

I am glad that the Georgia corridor is really coming together though. It will be one of the most impressive streets in the country from a modern architecture point of view.

Although I love all the unique designs for this area, I hope they would be spread more across Downtown to provide something visually interesting no matter from which angle you look at out town.

Also, I am still sad about the height reduction of 1500 West Georgia. That tower looked imposing and now it lost all its dimensions, resulting in a stubby look.

Streets downtown are circuitous enough as it is, with one ways and turn restrictions.

If you choose to live at that busy location, you have to live with your decision. It's really no different than living at the condos across the street on Georgia, where residents have to cross Georgia to get to the seawall.

I like the building. A bit safe, but beggars can't be choosers.

what is the projected "new tallest" building show in the render here in the middle on Burrard?

I think that is the "great skyscraper," theoretically to built one day where the Burrard Building now stands. It's a few years off, but that site allows for a 700-footer, I believe.

I'll greatly miss the existing building on this site but this looks well suited to the corner and will complement Cardero nicely. Prices will likely start at $2500/sf by the time this is launched.

I'll also miss the building on the corner, it would be nice if they saved some of the geometric frieze that's above the windows at the base and used them for planters or something.

I made that post to simply bump the thread to the top of the page with all the Downtown & City of Vancouver threads. There was an older thread for the same project that uzi found and posted in asking if there was any news. I was hoping that if both threads were up near the top then maybe a moderator could merge them so as to avoid confusion.

Ah, thx. I thought you had info that the project was bumped or rejected, and that would have been very disappointing, I think the proposal is absolutely beautiful and such a prominent intersection needs a proper build like this. Thanks for answering and your pics are great mate.

A community open house is schedule for 5-8 pm on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel (1128 West Hastings Street) in the Pinnacle 1 Function Room, with the applicant team and City staff available to answer questions.
