Well the Sifton head office is almost finished, looks like they are just finishing up the glass installation most of the interior is well on its way. I got an email last week saying that townhomes construction will begin early fall so I guess we will see how far Sifton takes this. I hope they at least come close to the concepts with solar on every roof, rain basin's etc.

Newish video was posted showing some of the concepts (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2ziFSlYNt4)

Sewer/water/etc work is being done on the area designated for townhouses see the community map http://west5.ca/community-story/community-map the entire section in the upper right corner is being serviced right now.

Not sure what the timeline is but they are working long days as they are moving dirt by 6am and are continuing until at least 6pm. The website says townhouses available in 2017 so the timeline seems to make sense.

The Sifton head office is essentially complete, looks like they are just finishing the interior fit outs and as of last night look to be working on the "solar parkade" area.

The head office is essentially complete, work has begun on the town homes. I would say foundations for at 3 sections is complete and the first section is now getting framing work.

Based on how quick they seems to be working I would expect the town homes to be ready for spring move in.

Construction is well underway on some townhomes along Shore Rd on the north edge of this development.

A number of the townhomes have been completed with residents moved in.
When fully built in 10 years there will be around 5000 people living here.

Hopefully Oxford St. is widen to 5 lanes before this is done. And not after the traffic jams are so bad each day.

As there is also a large subdivision being built on the southeast side of Oxford and Westdel Bourne and yet another smaller development on the Northwest side.

I live in the area and can only hope the city has big plans for traffic control, the opportunity to make Westdel Bourne something of use is now gone, Byron is as wide as it can go already so at this point only the Oxford route can be expanded.

They should consider making baseline 4 lanes from Westdel with the potential realignment of snake hill but even that may not be possible without taking down some houses...

Widening Byron Baseline is almost unthinkable...I'm not sure how many homes would be actually demolished, but people in Byron quite rightly wouldn't stand for it.

I agree that Westdel Bourne should have been widened to accommodate the new traffic from all this sprawl, instead of sending it through Byron and Westmount. I don't think there is a solution now; widening Byron Baseline is a non-starter for sure.

I believe we'll see Boler Road and Southdale Road widened before anything is ever done with Byron Baseline. Southdale is getting slow between Wonderland and Boler, much as it did 15 years ago between Wharncliffe and Wonderland.

Speaking of Boler and Southdale, I saw last weekend there's new traffic lights being installed there. Very long overdue.

Southdale I can see, though I think as always that plans should have been made before all that sprawl was approved.

I really hope Boler would not be. It would cut Byron in two. I can't see traffic counts justifying it any time soon. No matter what, it would be really bad for the community.

No question it would be near impossible not going to happen was more just thinking of all of the routes. Kilworth/Komoka and Mount Brydges are growing quite fast in addition to the West 5 and surrounding area the city does need to start thinking about moving traffic.

Southdale I am sure will be 4 lanes sooner than later, they should have expanded the route east of Col Talbot last year when they tore up the road.

City just spent 6 figures to install new traffic lights at Boler and Southdale. Dug it all up and didn't have the common sense to widen the intersection for the future widening of Southdale to 5 lanes. As usually the case no planning vision for 5,10,20 years out. They spent 6 figures again to rebuild the intersection when the widening happens.

Ugh that is a lot of money for the work that was done, I drive past that intersection everyday. The posts are literally on the side of the road so yeah absolutely zero room for expansion that is just poor planning.

I was really expecting Sifton to dumb down a lot of the designs however so far they seem to be aiming pretty high. I do not see any opposition to this, it was already laid out in the general plan 2 years ago from a general massing and height standpoint.

They are also well underway on the two buildings just north of the Sifton head office, concrete trucks and pumps were going last night there was at least 4-5 trucks unloading or waiting to go.

I am going to take a walk over to the head office this weekend and will snap a few pictures.

Small update as I took the kids to the new dentist located in the Sifton Head office building, decent views of construction.

This is looking North from the Sifton head office, construction on going for the new Mixed Use Retail & Office Building https://imgur.com/a/X97Vs
You can see the design here https://west5.ca/office listed as "late Spring 2019 occupancy" seems like they will be ahead of schedule based on the activity on site

Also this is looking more to the west the new Pet Services building looks like it is about complete https://imgur.com/uNo7wYf

Does the site where the mixed-use apartment buildings are going up look like its ready for a crane at all or just the office building site?
