Great pics, thanks for sharing.
Biggest south americas cities like Buenos Aires , São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro had much europen influence in urbanization an architecture, especially from 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, but, unlike the developed countries, which have created laws to protect the architectural and urban heritage, much has been lost. I believe that Buenos Aires is a city that has more preserved the architectural heritage in South America.

Perfect comment! But unfortunately the large cities in Brazil are making this mistake (being like other cities).

With the boom in the economy and the development of our cities,we're copying a contemporary international architecture. Projects quality are low and repetitive. One bad copy I would say...

São Paulo is a chaotic city, the giant city of developing country full of problems, but I think your best quality is the human diversity. I venture to say unparalleled in another developing country. All because of the dozens of groups of immigrants from all over the world who came here, as in almost any other city on the continent.

To see this kind of show we'd have to go to a reservation. Sao Paulo looks like fun. Beautiful set.
Ty Bronxwood!! surprisingly, most of the shows of indian musicians and dancers in the streets of São Paulo, are from Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador. For we watch Brazilian Indians dancing also have to go to reservations

It's got both some grit and some classic architecture commonly seen in Europe, but not exclusively as far as this thread goes. These, for instance, have some kind of US feeling to me.

São Paulo is the center of political diversity in Brazil. It is the city that received more variety of immigration in Latin America. Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Russian, Armenian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Jews, Greek, Slavic, Lebanese and Syrians, Angolans, Nigerians, Bolivians, Peruvians and dozens of other groups of immigrants arrived in the city during the last century. All these immigrants brought the thinking and political traditions of their countries.

This whole mix of thoughts cultivated in São Paulo the greatest scholars and research centers intellectuals.

In São Paulo came the biggest Brazilian political parties, student and union movements.

Paradoxically, since the end of dictatorship in Brazil, in the early 80, successive right-wing governments, with traits of extreme right politics, has managed the state of São Paulo and its capital, São Paulo City had the last decades only three governments of the center-left parties.

With their political conservatives in the government and many people, young and thinkers from other tendencies tired of this predominance summed up the culture of corruption and perks among all political, São Paulo City is currently going through a delicate moment, with milions of young people and intellectuals angry with the prevailing political.

The major left party that led Luis Ignacio Lula da Silva (famous poor and trade unionist who became president and ruled Brazil in recent years) to power, no longer seems to represent most of these young people and intellectuals, who supported it decades and years ago.

In fact the three major political parties in Brazil has been affected over the years by successive cases of corruption scandals.

Many brazilians and "paulistanos" (Gentile for those born in the city of São Paulo) are also disgusted with billions of dollars for conducting sporting events like the World Cup and Olympics, while the country despite great economic growth, the sixth largest economy in the world, still bitter cruel levels of social inequality.

So in recent weeks, has occurred in São Paulo, various disturbances and protests among youth and the current city government.

In principle, it was just a protest against the rising price of bus tickets. But with police repression, a police force known internationally by the disrespect for human rights, we are seeing a bomb arise.

below are pics of some recent events that occurred in the city.

which is exactly why some social-democracies in Europe are all going bankrupt. And Brazil will follow the same path.

the populist governments of S. America will always try to get votes by promising to fullfill these imediatist requirements of the population, even if they lead to problems in the future.

and look at all these PSTU and other extreme left parties. Proof that despite what participants of the protests alledge, these protests are led and organized by the revolutionaries of the left, the SAME guys who protect terrorists like Cesare Battisti, who endorse the "bolivarian" revolution and the clown government of Hugo Chavez, who defend the North Korean and Cuban model.
