They used CORE Architects and there's no sign of brown brick. Nice.

Appears to be somewhat of a Clark Kent/Superman approach. Look it's different with black brick ... but still very similar to Central 1 through 3. About the right height for that area

Well, the windows are also individual instead of the horizontal strips. But I do see your point, it's sort of like Claridge and their two identical Nepean/Gloucester tower and the third black contrast tower.

I like it. That angular penthouse/loft thingy on the roof has an interesting effect.

There's something creepy about how similar the Shoppers' are.

I went to the one in downtown Yellowknife this summer, and the same cutout of Bieber was there to assault me when i walked in.

If Canada ever goes to the moon, they will build one there, too.

Well, the closest Starbucks and Shoppers are two blocks north in Central 1, which is about the going rate; one every two blocks. So we can pretty much guarantee another one of each here.

The Bieber cutout at Bank and Glebe creeps me out each time I walk by. They've got him pointed out the window so that when you catch it in your peripheral vision, you feel feel like you're being watched. Doesn't Ottawa have a Bieber cutout placement bylaw?

Is anything to be read into the fact that they've labelled the retail space "Specialty Retail"? Or is that meaningless? Maybe for variety's sake we'll get a Bridgehead and a Rexall instead of a Starbucks and Shoppers.

A Bieber cutout placement bylaw wouldn't hurt, we need minimum distance separation for new Shoppers, there are over 50 in Ottawa-Gatineau

I'm a big fan of sticking to six-storey podia on Trad Main Streets as often as possible, and this is not a major intersection like Bank-Gladstone (or Bank-Somerset for that matter, where I'd be supportive of a much taller tower if it meant even just a façadist restoration of the old building and fixing the current shambles) that might justify a larger building presence at the corner.

If nine storeys is what they want/need, I think they should have three storeys of the edgy set-back penthouses above six, instead of the proposed 2/7 makeup. Other than that, looks nice enough I guess -- maybe not my cup of tea, but I'm not buying -- and definitely a step in the right direction for that stretch of Bank.

Well, I actually had to go into the Shopper's at Bank and Gladstone tonight. Fresh-faced Bieber was there to assault me on the way in. I'm wondering if that cutout is life-sized. If so, he's a short guy.
