BAH!
Another one of these threads...
"Ugly" is as subjective as 'Beauty" Times change, style changes, and what peole think is lovely one day is ugly the next. (cough Brutalism cough)
Many on the list I would not consider "Ugly"
Garish? Over the top? Pompus? Out of place?
Oh MY Yes!
But Ugly? Let us give a run down...
21: Ugly? Perhaps.. It strikes me as "Modern Art" which usually means something made to look 'ugly' on purpose. So nothing shocking about it.
20: A Big Boring Box of boring concreate from the 70's. "I" think it is ugly by default. But it is no worse then dozens of others that look just as bad. It's WORST crime however is its location. A huge slab of cocnreate blocking some of the best views of the brooklyn bridge.
19: Never things that... thing.. before.
Ugly? If you consider it "art" it is rather nice. It strikes me as a bit much, garish, and something built by some smary architect most like "just because he could"
18:Once again NOT ugly.
It actually harkens back to the day when many buildings were built to look like things. It is actually a refreshing bit of whimsey I can apprciate.
17: I'll be bloody blunt.
I don't know what to make of it. It is a television tower, it looks like a tower and that is about all I can make of it. I can only assume something about "Crawling babies' must offend.
16: Ah. Here we go...
This, grey, drab pillar, begins to creep across from 'Boring' into the ugly camp. It seems to have no life in it, no style. It is a big boring pillar with nothing of note on it. Still it is 'just' ugly.
15: How very... Modern...
Bah, I don't like it, but as a"modern" building it fits in just right with all these bloody architects who seem to think 'modern' buildings need to look like Hollywoods idea of "The Future" from 90's sci-fi movies.
14: Again, very modern.
It is a geometric shape. I actually admire whoever had the balls to design that and get it built. not much else to say.
13:Ah this thing...
I have seen this listed in many "Ugly" threads. And I'll will be hounest it does rub me the wrong way. It is garish, over the top, pompos, looks like it belongs in Vegas. And that is the thing. Many of these buildigns in the right context fit right in. If this WAS in Vegas, no one would think twice about it. Let alone call it "ugly"
BAH! And I will have to finish later, goign to be late to the office.
