Construction has started on the presentation centre last week with sales to commence in the new year. The website has been updated with a short vid.

I just recently realized this tower is going to block my view of the Lions as well as the Shangrila and most of the neon on Granville. Ah well, I'm no nimby, nor do I own my place. And the retail at grade will make a huge difference to the neighborhood so overall it will be a huge improvement over the parking lot that's currently there.

Some interesting looking floorplans in this project, definitely looking to see it go up.

Also, this project is most definitely "approved", can a mod change the thread status?

New renders?

Source: 999 Seymour Website. Floorplans are posted on the website now too.

Too bad the Nester's building and the Spot don't look more like the first render - http://maps.google.com/?ll=49.278533...2,15,,0,-17.31

Looks like they are getting ready for something, wire fence that was under overhang (to prevent people sleeping there??) is gone and windows are brown-papered up.

Realtor event on the 16th
prices starting at around 700/sqft (I think)
They said they had a healthy number of people register for this project.

What motivates you to buy at 999?

Sweet, love the design of this building. And the units with the seamless balconies, outdoor fireplaces, etc. would be great.

Actually I had no intention of buying, just curious. Wanted to get in on their Mercedes draw and free umbrellas! It was an invite only event for their best buyers. Sales to the general public start next month but by 2 PM half the building was pre-sold.

It was an exclusive event for 1 Realtor who has done a lot of business with them. Won't name names, but nice deal day for them.

Interesting indoor/outdoor concept. I wonder how that will be in the winter months. Realistically, we don't get a lot of indoor/outdoor weather, even if the area is covered.

It would be nice to see the Penthouse out my living room window though...

I'd be concerned about it being dark in the living room area in winter (although it is a southern exposure, so that may help)
That's often an issue when the living room is setback behind a deep balcony.

I like my balcony in Yaletown, it faces W-NW, so sun is ok but limited. I sure thought I'd use it a lot more before I moved in though.

It's awesome in the right weather, but that's 2-3 months a year. Otherwise it's too cold to spend much time out there.

The balconies are fairly sheltered and with the West? facing ones having the sliding walls, flush floor-line, outdoor fireplaces, and exterior screening will likely have a much extended use beyond a typical balcony.

If one is dressed right, those balconies can probably be used 12 months of the year!
