Yeah, in the video you can clearly see the no left turns signs. I honked at the guy to let him know he was doing wrong.

Nice video.

Yeah I see turns at Dundas/Richmond all the time. I've even seen ballsy pedestrians stand in the way of turning vehicles preventing them from completing their illegal move.

Great vid, thanks.
When was that takes.............I've never seen traffic so light?

I know that the province has stuck those damn concrete medians down all the freeways but I HATE them!
I prefer to see what's coming it at me. I can see why they want the barriers for safety but I always preferred the steel ones, at least you can see oncoming traffic and not feel like you are driving in a tunnel.
You did ask for suggestions soooooooooooooo................I'd love to see a 402 video in the Strathroy to HWY#4 area.

Thanks for the comment. My Riverside Dr. and 401 videos were both taken in the evenings shortly before sunset.

And I will add the 402 to my to-do list

Also, here's another time lapse video I made about a week ago. It's the second video in my "Driving Around the Countryside" series.

It was in and around St. Thomas. The first turn I make is from Sunset Dr. to Bush Line. You should be able to follow on a map from there.

And you're welcome in advance

Okay, well I just uploaded my first time lapse video in a while. Just wanted to share it with everyone. It's the Gardiner Expressway from beginning to end. It is considerably slower than the video I have of the 401 through Toronto, as people complained about the speed of that one. Feedback is always appreciated!

Great video Kokkei!

Music was the right pace, given the traffic on the Gardiner. Speed was just right and good ofr going the whole length of the Gardiner to its (unfortunate short) terminus with Lakeshore.

If only the Eastern Extension had been build to the 401 in Scarborough

Very nice!

Did a timelapse myself not too long ago. Not sure why I didn't add it to this thread:

Also did one of Highway 402 in Sarnia if anyone's interested in seeing that one:

That's for that 402 vid.
I HATE how the province has put those hideous concrete barriers down all the freeways.
Ontario is really the only place I have seen them used much as most use strong cable barriers. They have ruined the highways as you can no longer enjoy the roads as you feel you are driving in a non-stop tunnel.
They should be torn down but won't be.

I have no idea what my camera captures for FPS. I speed up the video in an editor however.

Why no love for concrete medians? They are much safer than the gaurdrails used elsewhere as they prevent trucks from reaching the other side when the slam into it. In addition Ontario builds an additional shoulder next to these 'tall wall' barriers which is something they don't do elsewhere. Its a massive safety asset.

so it's like
-Concrete median, shoulder, driving lanes, shoulder. Other places only have one shoulder.

I for one like them. They're a little excessive in the video because they're doing construction work and use additional medians to protect the workers.

What software are you using? I'm thinking of making a few timelapse videos of London's arterials, and obviously Movie Maker is not up to the task.

I'd agree 100%. I don't mind the barrier being a little ugly; it's worth it knowing the chances of a car from the opposing lanes jumping over a-la-Matrix Revolutions is virtually zero.

I use Sony Vegas. There are also add-ons you can download for Movie Maker which add speed up/slow down features.

My road videos are sped up 3-4x.

Alright, well as you all know, I have moved to Edmonton. I'm all settled now, and decided to do some time lapses around here. I wanted to share this one in particular because it is a ring road around Edmonton, exactly what London needs. This freeway is 80% complete, and only one section still needs to be completed.

Recorded a timelapse winter drive on Highway 401 yesterday, from the 403 to the 402.

Even though we're well into January, Southwest Ontario has very little snow, and what we do have is expected to melt over the next few days. It's the most pathetic winter I've ever experienced in all my life.

Great video. I am surprised by the paucity of development along this ringroad. Perhaps it will turn out like the 407 (which, when first built, was mainly surrounded by farmer's fields).

Edmonton has pretty bad urban sprawl. I think they're hoping the Henday will curb that growth a little. But it's obviously not working well in the south or the west, where developments are sprouting up outside the ring road boundaries.
