Christmas in Vancouver - Page 2

i've been listening to 104.9 since friday

i like christmas music

and this christmas market is great cause its last the whole month - there was some christmas market last weekend at the convention centre but its only 3 days by the time you hear about it its over and it was probably the only big one around here

at least this one you can drop by anytime

I agree, way too early. We had a Christmas tree in the office for 2 weeks already.
I remember there used to be a station that played only Christmas music very early right up to Christmas...they went bankrupt shortly after.

So I drove by the Christmas market yesterday and thought, there's no way I'm standing in that line! It was crazy how long the line was. No picture but I did manage a snap of some Santas from Santacon 2010:

Seen any ugly Christmas sweaters yet? They're out and about in the malls here...

I had to do a triple look at some older lady I saw the other day. Her sweater shocked me.

Did the Santa Clause Shuffle 5km run on Saturday. On the way back from Lumberman's arch went the scenic route by prospec point. Wow! They have re-designed the entire area there. Check it out if like me you haven't been since they started fixing it.

Sundays Santa Clause parade was great! I noticed the new curbs and paving at Granville and Robson going towards Howe on the north side. That has annoyed me for ages how bad the sidewalk condition is between Robson and Hornby on Robson. (I believe I was the only one more intereted in this work than the pararde.)

Also, had my first "Van-wich" from the vendor at Granville and Robson. Can say future trademark of the city.

p.s. Got to find that camera of mine..arg

yeah been watching the prospect point progress for a couple years now was finished earlier this year its nice the road configuartion is the best part

^ I went in to the market on the weekend - enjoyed the food, and the music, but there wasn't a whole lot else to keep us interested. The line for The Christmas ornament tent was really popular... looked like the line was about 45 minutes. With the number of people attending, the market could probably be twice that size - hopefully it will be next year (and no $5 admission...)

As a Winterpegger I mean this in the nicest of ways..

But, Vancouver is the VERY last place i'd ever associate with Xmas.

No snow, no cold weather, green grass in December, eternal Spring.

Personally, I had to do a double take when I saw the words 'Christmas' and 'Vancouver' in the same sentence.

Yes, I know Santa also visits California, Hawaii, Guam and Saipan but it just isn't Christmas without old buildings, snow and cold.

The more Dickens like it gets, the better.

In this way I'll never think of Vancouver as a Christmas city.

Man, I feel sorry for you Manitoba people. I didn't realize that it got so cold in the Winter Olympic city of Winnipeg that the human brain can actually freeze. Wow!

Ha, I remember that snowfall in 2008, was nearly 4 feet of fucking snow on the ground where I lived on the island. Granted it all melted in a week, but I never thought I'd see that much snow at once again once I left Alberta.

Plenty of snow within a short drive. Besides, lots of places dont get snow at xmas. There are also plenty of old buildings. Have you ever been here?

5 bucks.....that's stupid. Never paid to get in one in the UK before.

You do know that in 2008 we were the snowiest city in Canada along with Victoria!
Just because it melts doesn't mean it doesn't snow! Plus the snow is good enough to make snowballs and snowmen.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news and tell you the chance of snow in Bethlehem, Israel isn't very high, ever.

But Baby Jesus doesn't care if it's 25 degrees out!

And there's certainly never been any reference to Jesus building a snowman or going sledding.

Though, one could argue he was the first hockey player when he walked upon water that was most likely frozen.
