Whoa!

CPVLIVE--

This is unreal! The colors are super clear and eye-popping. What camera do you use? And how do you get the colors to be so clear?

I really enjoyed the set and the Denver experience!

Thank you!

Yeah, I agree Ken - I did have a few shots from Central and a couple from Platte St. that I didn't include. They didn't do the area justice and now I'm waiting for the street construction to finish to shoot the area for a future thread.

Great Photos

Wonderful collection, I'm really impressed how much that neighborhood has developed and improved over the past few years. Red sandstone and lots of greenery make for some beautiful compositions.

Amazing photography, what kind of camera do you have? I wonder what the next revitalized neighborhood a la Highland will be in Denver? I know areas south of it still need some work.

Thanks - Nikon D90. I used an 11-16mm wide angle for the majority of this thread.

Your camera made Denver look like a psychedelic feast. Never have colors been more vivid and emphatic. I'm of two minds about the modern infill. I love the idea of it but I wonder if the materials will stand the test of time. Some of it looks cheap. One thing about this neighborhood is that it was working class back in the day. Italians and Jews predominated (Golda Meir went to high school here) and as late as the 1970s you could still find authentic ethnic cuisine (does anyone remember Patsy's?). I think gentrification is good and necessary, but I sometimes wish we could keep old neighborhood jewels permanently encased in their original setting.

Delightful! I love the willingness to mix modern & old. Thanks for schooling me on Denver.

This shot actually makes the Xcel Energy building look good:

Highland is a cool neighborhood. It went through a period of major revitalization from 2005-2008 and then was pretty quiet but has started to pick up. It's definitely the "trendy" area in Denver and has attracted lots of families unlike some of the other urban Denver hoods.
