This would be a dream of mine as well. But I have to admit, the bus systems serving both University Ave and El Cajon Blvd are very efficient.

It's nice to see how progressive the city's transit system is.

Same here. Never knew about the Oceanside-Escondido train system, but then again I've never traveled the freeway between them, either... (I believe it's the 76?)

Does anyone have any ridership numbers for the Sprinter line or heard if ridership has been boosted due to the very sluggish SD economy? I would think it might be doing better with the community colleges and San Marcos State on the line. Plus so many young people in San Diego can't afford cars and gas now due to the severe economic downturn and lack of jobs paying more then $12 dollars per hour.

hey look, it's mello! thanks for bumping this up.

really fantastic stuff, cirrus. i've still never been to san diego (it and detroit are the only substantial US cities i've not been to), and this is all very encouraging. i've never seen any pics of the santa fe station, let alone the liveries. excellent show, m'man.

I haven't any numbers for you, but they are considering slashing fares on the Breeze buses and Coaster commuter to attract more riders, as gas has gotten cheaper (is 2.85 cheap?) and people are losing their jobs along the corridor.

I do know they halved the price of the Sprinter monthly pass for Cal State San Marcos students, and probably did the same for Palomar and MiraCosta students as well.

And finding a job that pays more than $10 on hour would be more accurate at this point...
