BTW, does anyone know of any decent second-hand record stores in Buffalo? I've heard there were some interesting obscure labels from there in the past (soul/disco/funk in particular), and would be up for some record digging at some point.

It is considered third or fourth most architecturally rich cities in the US. Top four are, Detroit, Chicago, NYC and Buffalo.

Albright-Knox is beautiful, just outside is Delaware Park designed by Olmstead (designer of Central Park NYC)

There are 3 Olmstead parks in Buffalo. Sadly today park design has deteriorated as much as building design.... maybe even more.

Olmstead also designed the grounds of the psych hospital, although not much remains of his design. Yet another reason not to miss it.

Worth the effort

If you got time or anyone that has kids, there is a cheap attraction with some history attached.
Buffalo and Erie County naval yard (just under the bridge)
The Naval & Military Park is located very close to downtown Buffalo, on Buffalo Place at the foot of Pearl and Main streets, across from HSBC Arena. You can take any transportation to visit the park.

This has three ships (cruiser {huge}, destroyer and sub) and will kill hours then wings
Enjoy

Niagara Falls, ON crosses to Niagara Falls, NY and not Buffalo.

Of course it does, but maybe Buffalo's regional transit connects with Niagara Falls, NY. Some people like new adventures on public transit. I know, those people are strange.

Thanks :-) I remember you talking about this, but I must have forgotten to ask... do you fill all this in before you go (if so, where do you get the form) or is it something you fill in at the border?

Niagara Falls, NY and Buffalo, NY both actually use the same transit system (NFTA). Using Google Transit and inputting directions from "niagara falls ny" to "buffalo ny" it shows a suggested route using NFTA's Route 40 Grand Island route, straight into downtown Buffalo. Obviously you'd need to tweak further from there, but that does show that NFTA serves Niagara Falls and Buffalo seamlessly.

Link to suggested route

Hamilton to Buffalo.... hmmmm.... don't forget the Niagara Falls Bus terminal is opposite the VIA rail station there.....(it used to be by the Skylon Tower but now in the old part of the city).. if you take GO train or Bus to Niagara Falls... you could walk down to the Rainbow Bridge and walk over (but i suggest taxi to Rainbow Bridge).... go to Niagara Falls NY and take NFTA to Buffalo.

That could be costly..... best bet go to Toronto and take Greyhound to Buffalo direct.

well originally I was concerned about timings, however now I've discovered I MUST be there at atleast 8am to make sure I get admitted when the doors open at 8:30am, it's looking like I will have to go the night before, stay over and then get back.

So the Toronto option, albeit much longer and tedious, may get put back on the table.

However, having just looked, only the 7 day advanced fare for Greyhound make them appreciably cheaper.

One of Realcity's favourite construction companies. Just thought he might be interested.
