I never liked this one from my hometown. The ice rink is somewhat cool, but the building is so screamingly mediocre 90s...

I much prefer 1250 Rene-Levesque (at least, the east-facing side)

If this is as tall as the city allows, the only way Montreal could get a new tallest is if it were built near Rue Notre-Dame Ouest and Rue University, which is at a lower elevation than 1000 Rue de la G.

That pipe dream is long gone. There is presently no publicly known tallest building proposal in Montreal. A 197m building is our tallest proposal right now.

Sadly, for the haters, Le 1000 will be our tallest for another long while, I'm afraid.

I like it! Of course, I like anything postmodern, but I think the building is perfectly fine. Maybe it could be a tad thinner or perhaps a spire, but personally I wouldn't change it. I think it also commands the skyline quite nicely:
