All these traffic calming measures have been done around Westdale closer to McMaster. You'll see the chokers and onstreet parking.

Problem is, they don't work.

Unless the on-street parking is staggered. This would be simple and cheap, but the city seems reluctant.

Speed humps work, but the unions hate them. (Snow plows and Garbage).

There's plenty of round abouts in Ancaster.

There's another one that's supposed to be built at Omni and Stone Church, the road leading towards Meadowlands and where all the McMansions are being built around, near the hydro corridor.

I don't find roundabouts pedestrian friendly or traffic calming.

The best example of traffic calming in Hamilton is in Durand where there are chokers, blocked streets, strategic one ways and other strategies to force through traffic onto specific streets. I hate speed bumps and they aren't needed when the other strategies are implemented properly.

The roundabouts there will be different than the bigger ones like at the top of the kenilworth cut and out at the edge of ancaster. they will be more like islands in the middle of an intersection that you have to drive around. In toronto I find these are quite pedestrian and bike friendly and very unfriendly to through traffic... perfect.

I also like the idea of strategic one way streets.. Of course I mean small one way sections that discourage through traffic rather than huge one ways that encourage it.
