well, you're only talking about big commissions. but there are plenty of promising up-and-comer chinese architects. one example (one more than taiwan can offer as far as i can tell) is qingyun ma, dean of the USC school of architecture. not to mention the swarms of talent in the visual arts who up until recently were not getting large commissions. are there, at least, any "paper architects" generating buzz in taiwan right now?
culturally speaking, it seems as taiwan has become sort of an anti-cosmopolitan backwater, considering the advantages it should have.
