i took a pic on my camera phone but it doesn't look so good

they have a bunch of info abut the granville street station along the fences where construction is happennuing

they show on one fo them that the skytrain station entrance is at the corner of granville and georgia - right in forn tof where the sears entrance is

they also show a connection to vancouver centre mall and what could be a connection into sears or pacific centre

they don't show any other station enttances at robson at all

Neither of the proposed designs showed an entrance at Robson Street - it was just the hypothetical name for the station. The diagram accords with the plans for the Pacific Centre option - entrance pavilion at Georgia & Granville and underground connection to the Pacific Centre mall - good to see a connection to Vancouver Centre Mall too, as that would provide the shortest route to Skytrain (during store hours) - does it say "future connection"?

The latest postcard shows good tunnel progress:

thats why i always thought why would they call it Robson if the entrance is on georgia

i can't make it out in the picture but i don't think it said future construction

anyway if anyone wanst to go down there there is a ton of info and pics plans etc. on the fence posters

If it was originally going to be Robson, why don't they just call it Georgia Station? It would be a much more helpful name than the meaningless "Vancouver City Centre".

^ I'd say "West Georgia Station".

Note the last part, what should the False Creek tunnel be called?

I like Georgia Station or even Pacific Center Station would work for me.

SF's is the TransBay Tube - but somehow TransCreek Tube is underwhelming.

If there's a name for the tunnel, what are the two bridges going to be called? It won't be "Sky - anything" - So how about naming it after your favourite Federal (Canada Line) politicians???

I think it'd make more sense to name the bridges before the tunnels. Do all tunnels even get a name?

I think most tunnels are that are named are main line train(overground) lines. Since Canada Line is basically one continuous tunnel then it kind of doesn't make sense. However, it looks like they are going to anyway so perhaps they should go with what they already have, Funnel or maybe something with Creek in it.

I really like Pacific Centre Stn. I think that's what most people will call it anyway.

I'm hoping and assuming that there will be a direct express bus from the Tsawwassen ferry terminal to the Richmond skytrain station on the Canada Line? Has there been any official mention of this? I'd love to see it extend right out to the ferry terminal and lrt from Swartz Bay to downtown Victoria, but I doubt I'll see that in my lifetime (I'm 89 btw).

Photo Update

Hello all,

I recently moved back to Vancouver and to the Cambie Village area (18th and Heather) went for a bit of a walk today and noticed that digging has now commenced north of King Ed on Cambie:

The future site of King Edward station is currently a gravel lot:

Looking South down the trench from King Ed:

Ash street is currently impassable for utility work.. looking south from 18th and Ash:

''I recently moved back to Vancouver and to the Cambie Village area (18th and Heather)''

Are you joking? I used to live on 18th and Heather too.

The open house display board mentioned that 620 will be rerouted to Bridgeport Station, but I don't know if it'll still go into Ladner or not (It'll be 6 or 9 stops between ferry terminal and Bridgeport).

wow, what a small world. perhaps you lived in the same building I do now, here's the view from my balcony:

I love the area, a lot of intense tennis goes on at the courts at Heather Park during the week, I have been inspired to acquire a tennis racket. Also a very nice new Capers has just opened up on 16th and Cambie, I am drawn to it like a moth to a flame.

Yeah either of those names are better than Vancouver City Centre. That name will confuse some people since like 4 stations could claim to be at the city centre and I think Burrard Station is actually more central.

As for the naming the False Creek Tunnel I think its more important to name the Bridges first, but since they're asking I dont like the name the Funnel.

ahh..excellent, thanks for the info! Yah, no need to go to the Ladner exchange anymore, 6 to 9 stops to Bridgeport is pretty decent too, hopefully closer to 6.

That would make a lot of sense. The Horsehoe Bay Express is great for the Departure Bay run.

*********

The excavation on King Edward is to build a bridge across Cambie over the station construction.
