Absolutely, that's what is going to make it so cool upon completion. Not quite the Sliver tower going up right now in NY (566 feet), but will still be pretty damn cool. I'm alittle concerned about the concrete portion of the facade facing 8th street in the renderings. I'm still not quite sure why they didn't opt for an all-glass fascade. I'm hoping it blends well with the neighboring Mayfari, but i'm not quite sure it will, as the Mayfair has a brick fascade.

Edit: I retract the part about the concrete, it appears as though it is likely a different fascade. Still a minor concern of mine, however.

Ok, so from about the most reliable source possible...

32 total caissons for the tower
75 feet down to bedrock, drilled another 12-14 feet into bedrock
8 feet wide at the top. 66 inches wide at the bottom
Original timeline for foundation - 3 months (Likely will be longer)
Are working on the first caisson still, although a second has also been started.

Big picture update coming, hope they come out allright.

Looks like a few more piers have been drilled since the last time I was down there. I couldn't get a side view today because US Bank is having their building sand blasted.

HA! I went to the site that's on the sign for the tower and it's a lot less than helpful. The only section of the site that had anything other than "undefined" was the contact page so they could send you updates and what not. Not to break away from the theme of the thread, but does anyone know of any other projects like this that are scheduled to start downtown?

298 feet tall.

I spoke with architects about this project. They are trying to have a smooth roofline, so there shouldn't be any mechanical height, so unless a mechanical structure has to be added 298 feet is the height to the roofline.

Looking pretty impressive for it's size. Very tall for the actual height. I am loving the glass, personally. This whole area (Old Post Office Square) is really leading the downtown renaissance.
