I like the prairie provinces (AB, SK, MB) and BC. Nice designs that represent their location and not too busy looking. I also like the "Beautiful British Columbia" somehow, it just sounds good together.
By the way, is it only Quebec that has no front plate or are there any other provinces/territories as well?

As of a couple of years ago, you no longer need a front plate in Saskatchewan. I'd say it's a 50-50 split between those that do and don't.
i don't know if it's just me, but i've always been surprised by how much i notice the different licence plates when i'm in another province. it's one of those small, unimportant details that remind you that you're somewhere else.
It's like that for us Albertans and we don't have to leave Alberta to notice it. Unbelievable how many out of town plates you see in Alberta these days.
I know Albertans don't have a long history like we have in East Canada (from Ontario to Newfoundland) but I am sure you can find something better than a Cowboy mega-meet link or a Sport team logo...
Nothing negative, just my point of view.
I agree with PhilippeMtl. Themed license plates featuring cowboys and sports teams are the last thing Alberta needs. Last playoff run there were enough of those stupid window-mounted flags; the last thing we need is most branded shit hanging off cars.
I think the best plates are the most simple and classic. Ontario and Quebec plates look quite nice and they are easy to read. I also really like the look of Nova Scotia's plates.
Ontario's is dull, but much better than the older version that hectored you to "Keep it Beautiful"
Worst of the worst is New Hampshire's tag line:
Does that include the freedom to criticise the Bush Administration and associated policies, without being labelled 'unpatriotic'?

I like the seven-digit license plate number. The next step would be legislation which required every car to have a mobile phone that used the license plate number as a telephone number. There are all kinds of useful applications for this:
01. No more middle fingers. Simply call up the SUV that just cut you off and tell him what an asshole he is.
02. No more honking at honking at attractive women behind the wheel. One phone call and you could be meeting at the Wendy's drive-thru for a romantic date.

Well, alot of areas are going to ten digit dialing now a days, I guess you can just try to guess the area code.
There seems to be a North America wide trend towards graphic plates. It's getting so that now the plain license plates stick out more than the graphic ones.
I think this works out favourably for Quebec and Ontario.
