Well said.

I look forward to another version in 3 months or so.

Great job guys.

I hope Steely does not mind if I use this great link in making my point ,eluding to overall greatness, at some time in the future; When one or so inquisitive soul, or more, yearns for additional information and interest.

v4 already?

Well I remember posting about Metro Center 290 in the last version or the one before.

Might be a little taller now. In the site plan, they keep it separate as a "future residential tower," so I hope they don't wait or scrap that plan if there's NIMBY resistance.

I'm not sure what officially qualifies as site prep, but in the last week they've also removed the several billboards formerly on the site, and early this morning there was a truck on site delivering construction fencing. Also, last week everyone in Folio Square got letters from Terrapin saying groundbreaking would be this month.

New flying carpet tower?

Posted this on SSC. Looks like that aloft hotel mentioned in Crain's last summer on a site controlled by Buddy Guy.

Aloft Millennium Park (Balbo and Wabash)

ECD’s newest downtown Chicago development will be Aloft Millennium Park. The development will include 13 floors of hotel as well as 5 floors of office and 5,000 SF of ground floor retail. We are proud to announce that we have recently signed a license agreement with Aloft by Starwood Hotels for this location and are planning to build the first Aloft in downtown Chicago. To learn more about the brand, please visit Starwood’s virtual tour at www.virtualaloft.com.

Located at the corner of Balbo and Wabash in Chicago’s “south loop,” Aloft Millennium Park is just three blocks from Chicago’s central business district and just one short block from the Grant Park/Millennium Park/Museum Park stretch of Michigan Avenue. ECD anticipates breaking ground on this project in March of 2008 with completion targeted for August of that year.

Looks like it should be a great addition to the South Loop. Although am I misreading things when it says that it will start construction in March of 2008 and finish in August of 2008????

It's starting to look alot like site prep... *hums Christmas tune*

If they have been demolishing structures like billboards, that counts as work to prepare the site for construction. Unless those are just cheepo ads for the tower to be built, then I'm not quite sure, but if you are talking big metal billboards, its looking like site prep.

^Well if you look at the Burnham Pointe website, they have a new notice:

"Construction Has Begun! Come and see us at the new sales office located at 217 N. Jefferson"

Not a merry Christmas for Folio Square residents

This will help create a nice little threesome of hotels in a block radius, along with the Hilton, and the rennovated Blackstone.

Aloft *Millennium Park*? That's a stretch. Anyway, it's added to Emporis as bu>288705.

The Fairbanks and The Columbian are both listed as topped-out now, although the roofing material will add a foot or two to The Columbian. And we might as well list The Superior at LaSalle as completed; it's been occupied for over a month, and the only remaining detail is the cladding of the corner column by the entrance. Steely, if you want to update the boom calendar, it should show as completed in November. Lastly, 30 West Oak won't be completed until 2007... the hoist is still up along the full height.

Does anyone know who the architect or developer is for the Sheridan-Irving Park condos?

Funny... you can even see the blue tarp on the future Blackstone in that rendering in the background.

As far as speed of construction.... it's only 18 floors, with a small footprint... I guess this is possible???

Just experienced our first High Rise fire here at McClurg Court Center Tower B (sure it won't even make it into the news tomorrow). Smelled a little bit of smoke in our place and counted no less than 14 fire trucks outside, but they had it out within a short bit. Hats off to the men 'n women in Black & Yellow.
