Chiayi City Hall

Cool! Chiayi City Hall is pretty close by my house. As a matter of fact, this is south building. North building is still underconstruction and will be completed in a year or two. A skywalk will link the two mega buildings once completed!

I really think kaohsiung has the best skyline in taiwan.
anyway, just out of curiosity, is kaohisung's pollution problem as bad as taipei? bcz from the pics it seems the pollution isn't that bad.

From my experience Kaohsiung's pollution is on another level compared to Taipei's. Chalk it up to the massive amount of industry located in and around the city. Those pictures of Kaohsiung were no doubt taken between April-June, the air quality is the best at that time. Most of the time Kaohsiung's air is embarrassingly bad.

Yeap...my first impression when I first went to Kaohsiung was the "Terminator movie style" heavy industry factories. It was very cool, but I can imagine how ppl living around the city suffer from that. Luckily, Kaohsiung is by the sea. On the other hand, Taipei's populated area is in the basin. The air pollution mainly from the cars and scooters is hard to disperse.

It is worse that sometimes sandstorm from Inner-Mongolia can reach Taiwan!
That's why sometimes I like Typhoons coming to Taiwan. They can really wash the smog away for a while.

i saw an article sometime ago, highlighting the fact that 70% of the taiwan's air pollutions are actually from the mainland, carried over by the south-east wind.

anyway some more urban pictures i found on dcview.com
