Tianjin is a bit of an odd pick for #3 in China as well.

Personally, I like the architecture and setting combo of Chongqing. Like a Blade Runner Pittsburgh.

so much dissatisfaction from local skyline aficionados to have to post another rendering full of never to be built. Vancouver is more deserving of Toronto's spot.

Florence is beautiful but it doesn't really have a skyline. I prefer it to some of the real skylines though. Too much of what is presented as "beautiful" to me look like AI-generated future hellscapes.

There's a fine line of what defines a "skyline" but on a site called skyscraperpage.com, the answer is in the URL.

Florence, Prague, Rome, Edinburgh, DC, Dresden, Venice, Granada, etc. are what I would call great "cityscapes".

I'd also separate out skylines from their natural settings. Rio de Janeiro is stunning to look at, but if you photoshopped out the mountains, would it still be stunning to look at?

The vast majority looks incredibly similar. Yes, Maldive added a finished version of 'The One' currently under construction a few other projects, the majority of which will happen, soon.

I'm not a booster'ish sort, Its just not my take on life.

But neither do I get enjoyment from dumping on any city the way you do Toronto.

Its really not a good look, and I'll take a bit of exuberant enthusiasm over a dour, cynical, inaccurate and rather bullying take any day.

My thoughts as well. Milwaukee is a nice town but it should not be listed anywhere near the top 100 global skylines, much less top 17. Now, if you wanted to rate Milwaukee on kooky culture, it would be a top 5 city. I mean that in the most genial manner. Also, I think Toronto should be Top 10, at least. This won't be popular, but HK is overrated.

You're just making my point. Why add a bunch of proposals like the Marriott Resident Inn towers at Yonge & Carlton that may or may not happen anytime soon and has nothing to do with the topic at hand? It's booster-ish to have posted it. It overshadows what Toronto's skyline has already accomplished. On top of that, few in this forum is going to get too envious for proposals undergoing or have undergone rezoning.

My opinion on what all those skyscrapers are doing for the city will not change. It's one of grave concerns rather than shitting on the city. Only a fanboy would see it that way.

You're a hawk when it comes to the AIC and that totally rocks. This year has sucked balls for 30 plus storey towers breaking ground and, there's only so much time left before the next election. Fewer shoeboxes facing into other shoeboxes starting up is not a bad thing from my perspective and likely yours too.

What a random and weird list. Bangkok? Tianjin? Milwaukee? And some I find ugly like Panama or Dubai.

If the list is about North American kind of skyline, Pittsburgh, Chicago and New York have always been my favourite. Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Detroit, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Atlanta are very nice as well. Canadian ones get less beautiful as they grow bigger. I'd have included 15 years ago Toronto.

Outside North America, following the same tall skyscraper pattern, I like Hong Kong, Sydney, Johannesburg and Frankfurt.

Maybe I'm biased, but it seems I got frozen on the early 2000's when it comes to US-style skylines. Everything that came after that, doesn't appeal to me.
