A big one, but Atlanta at 74 miles away. Almost looks Martian like. Eerie.

Downtown LA from Mt. Wilson. Wilshire Grand is U/C not topped out yet. Need to get an updated one of these pics when we get clear skies.

Here you go... skylines as viewed from Mars.

And Mars is typically 141 million miles away. Meanwhile, the diameter, and note the diameter of the universe (not including volume) is 5.5×10^23 miles.

Point being, we are nothing really. For some deep analysis, check out or type "drake equation".

That's a excellent shot. I remember taking a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale 3 years ago, and for a good two hours or so, traveling down the peninsula, it was a silhouette of towers in the horizon. Usually I'll take them out of Bayonne (been on 17 cruises in my life), but F.Lauderdale offers some nice skyline gazing opportunities when headed to the Caribbean. S.Florida's coast is one giant skyline. Probably the longest in the nation in terms of sheer mileage.

Although taking it out of Bayonne, going underneath the Verrazano is epic.

I am thinking and thinking about this and I believe.... She might be slightly correct. If skyscrapers were about 62 miles high and reached suborbital space then from the ground a skyscraper might appear to be curved as it got closer and closer to the top.

You know I love this stuff....

I'm working on a website that specifically tackles this topic (skylines from far away, and mountains also).
The site isn't finished, but is functional enough to be useful to this topic .

TheViewShed
(filtered by confirmed skyline shots only)

Have a play with the filters etc, images missing is normal, working through these sorts of things now.
