Really really great photos Zoomer! You've got such a great eye for photos. It was nice hanging out with you too. I'll add some pics soon.

It was a fun walk around James Bay with my friend Zoomer the other day. We took some photos and thought I would post some of mine though not as amazing as Zoomer's photos.

Nice pics! The backside of the Parliament Buildings is gorgeous too, but often forgotten.

Thanks Zoomer. I posted this old photo looking down Victoria's Government Street, on the Victoria regional thread. I thought I would post it here too. So many amazing old buildings got torn down. So sad really.

An oldie but goldie! Funny how Douglas street retained more heritage than Government street - you'd think it would be the opposite.

Here's a bunch more I shared on the Canada Skyline thread, but would like to keep a record of here as well:

Came across a few good drone shots of Victoria's downtown, most recent, a few a couple years old:

This is a provincial government office park about a mile from downtown with a nice pedestrian/bike bridge over the water connecting back to downtown.

and finally a skyline shot facing east:

Those are some of the best photos of Victoria that I've ever seen. Thanks so much Zoomer for posting these. Really fantastic.

It was such a beautiful day today clear from the smoke of the forest fires, that I decided to take some pictures today.

I took some photos of Craigdarroch Castle last month. It was a castle built by a guy named Robert Dunsmuir in 1887. He also built another castle in Victoria called Hatley Castle. Hatley Castle is where parts of Smallville and X-Men were filmed.

This is Craigdarroch Castle...

I seem to recall a Great Scaper climbing on top of the roof of the old motel many years ago in order to get a photo - correct?!

Hahaha... I forgot about that. Yes I brought a ladder and got on the roof of that building. Good memory Zoomer. I also did the same thing on that high school on Yates Street. I took a ladder there as well. I've been thinking about doing that again on a Sunday to get some new pictures.

Isn't it supposed to be bad luck to climb a ladder so you can get on a roof to take pictures?

I would have rung your neck if I had caught you doing a crazy stunt like that. Which would have evened the score for that time you picked a fight with me in a movie theater 30 years ago.

Nah, it's cool. I'm over it. I'm pretty sure it wasn't you.

But now I'm thinking it might have been zoomer. His criticisms of the Telus project are driving me up a ladder.

On my, imagine if Aastra really started posting on the Canada forum..? They couldn't handle it, it would result in a repeat of the Great Exile well over a decade ago when dozens of Victorian posters took to rafts, fleeing to the safety of Vibrant Victoria.. which now through excessive inbreeding has become its own unique island.

Don't get me started on Telus.. that thing has unhinged me.

Zoomer What's wrong with Telus?

Aastra I had forgotten all about the fight at the movie theater. That's so funny. I don't think that was me though.

I took this photo this evening during sunset. I drove over the Tillicum bridge and saw the city and it looked pretty cool so I parked at the Gorge Point Pub and walked back to take this photo. I thought it looked pretty cool.

I took this photo the other day of The Hudson Tower 1 towering over Old Town Victoria. I need to find another day to go out and take some photos. Just not enough time in the day. The crane beside this high rise is building Hudson Tower 2 which will be Victoria's second tallest building.

In that picture, the modern construction that fits really poorly is... the back side of the little office building in Bastion Square. And yet it's supposed to be an example of appropriately sensitive modern architecture.

Are you talking about the building with the curved upper windows? I thought that was an old heritage building. When was it built?

Cool this thread has 3000 plus views now.
