A nice little photo collection you got there. However, probably the most interesting ones are of your hometown. How about giving us a nice comprehensive thread with larger photos?

Yeah fredrick looks really cool. I'm gunna mapquest it and check out exactly where it is located. Yeah and good Baltimore angles too. I also love that building in Denver (rounded one on the corner). I wish San Diego had one like that.

If you draw a line straight west from Baltimore and another line straight northwest from Washington, Frederick is where the two meet.

It was settled in 1725 and incorporated in 1817. At one point in the 19th Century it was the 49th largest city in the United States (today that would be metro areas comparable to Albany, Birmingham and Richmond).

Frederick has a marvelous center city. The downside is it is very rapidly becoming a less expensive alternative for people priced out of suburban Washington, and therefore has a rapidly expanding sprawl belt.

You can get more info and see more pictures at my Frederick profile at BeyondDC.

Well, I'm a city guy myself, but anyplace that looks this good should be coveted by lots of people. Unless there's a fly in the ointment.

The downside to the center city is it's pretty far from the main regional population centers, and is therefore still considered a bit of a backwater.

But were it closer to DC, downtown Frederick would compete favorably with Alexandria and Georgetown.
