Perhaps, but for now there is no indication on this.

Few examples in the city where bulk is greater than height. Just look at 85 Jay aka Front and York. Not the tallest thing around, at 250 ft but its mad impressive just because of its grand bulk. Or the MetLife Building aka 200 Park. Sort of gets drowned out now but no denying that what it brings to the city with its almost 3 million square feet is more important than say a 1300 ft, only 800k square foot tower.

Here the space is over 1.2 million square feet. Mine was just a hope of seeing something that would break the monotony of towers all roughly the same height behind the 30 Hudson Yards tower. As far as I'm concerned they can build what they want here who cares. I prefer the Midtown East area where there are towers like One Vanderbilt or Project Commodore much more beautiful and interesting from an architectural point of view.

well, if this proposal is any indication, this plot has the potential to spawn ANOTHER behemoth tower.

I actually like that, if only because it breaks away from the crowd of behemoths.

At first glance the cantilevers were a bit unsettling but it’s growing on me more and more. I like that it’s not another all glass building. There’s some texture and depth happening that I appreciate.

I hope all the other proposals are just as tall. We need something to break up the inevitable table top of HY + HYadjacent developments.

Side note- I wonder if there are any plans to do something with the pier.

That pier has been turned into a park, though it’s not in final form. I’ve checked it out a couple of times, and it’s much needed open space.

That thing is wrong end up. Seriously, it's wrong end up. No way in hell anything that absurd makes it to fruition. BIG's 2WTC was one thing but this is exponentially more extreme. Can we come back to earth please?

I did look at it the other way to see if I liked it better that way. That would be basically 35 Hudson, more of the same. I like that it's different, especially now the BIG's 2 WTC won't be getting built. Still, I would like to see all of the proposals before I decide on a favorite.

35 Hudson

No we can't. Nor would we want to.

I remember Extell's proposal for a hotel here, I wonder if they bid this time around. This proposal says it would include 2 hotels....

The plan includes a 1,500 ft. tower, two hotels, an observation deck and skating rink as well as commercial office spaces with the NAACP headquarters.
