Still on West Jefferson Street. Now looking southeast towards the ABA Building. The building, originally constructed for the Northeastern Steel Company in 1964, now houses the offices of the Allied Bank America Corporation. The 25-story ABA Building, with the height of 113 m / 371 ft, became the second tallest building in Bourne when completed. Today it is the sixth tallest.

A closer look of the ABA Building:

The buildings in the city are very stunning, the only thing that i don't like are the trees, they don't seem as realistic as the buildings. By the way how big is the file?

Oh my gosh!!!!! How the heck did I miss this thread!

AMAZING stuff going on here, Vellu! You did it again! I can't wait to see more! I wish I could master the art of elevation on Google Sketchup, but it's still a work in progress for me.

All around, really amazing work! Keep it up, man!

Looking great Vellu, a very well thought out and planned layout. Reminds me much of Stamford CT’s business district.

I agree, I have to use better looking trees for the close-ups. The file size for the completed first section of Bourne is just under 5 MB's.

Thanks, although I can't take too much credit for the layout, as it is so heavily based on a real city - not Stamford, CT, though.

I've now completed the first section of Bourne, so here's an aerial view: looking southwest early in a summer morning.

Really impressive. I like both your Rocane and Bourne. So much detaile. How do you managed to add detail without having a a big file size - like my Atlas City work in progress? Wow, I can really learn a lot from you guys...

Absolutely great talent you got there.

Thanks so much for your comments on my works. Yours ROCKS - as do many others!

I really like your city, you really know about us architecture, what's your profession if you don't mind? I'm asking this because your designs make me think you're an architect.

Thank you for the comments! This forum seems really dead at the moment, but I'm not going to quit Bourne.

Thanks. Even though the layout is pretty much a copy from that real city, the modeling was probably the single most laborious part of the model. I think the freeway helps to add a lot of realism into that aerial.

Well, my profession has nothing to do with building architecture. I'm just a fan.

Here's an update. The design competition for a new performing arts center in 1966-67 received entries from many famous architects. The design of famous Finnish-American architect Aaro Saarelainen was announced as the winner. Saarelainen said that the inspiration came from a swan - the national bird of Finland. The overall form of the entrance hall - most of the complex is underground - resembles a swan taking off from a lake. The columns supporting the roof halves in turn represent a landing swan.

The center was completed in 1971. It was named the Matthew W. Hill Center after Matthew Hill, a Bourne born millionaire, who was the biggest sponsor during the construction.

An aerial view from southwest:

An aerial view from southeast:

A view from inside the entrance hall:

Pretty extraordinary Vellu, especially what’s right above. The freeway is also amazing. Hope to see more soon.

The complex highway system in unparalleled! That must have taken forever... How did you so smoothly get it to move downgrade around the off ramps? I also like they Y-shaped columns. Cool.
