Agreed. It's value designed. Nobody is going to erect an expensive tower intended to house over a thousand 18 to 22-year-olds!

This one reminds me of a lot of apartment towers in China.

This will have an amazing impact on our skyline. Let's do it! I hear they look to break around September.

That's not necessarily a bad thing in this town!

Unfortunately in this neighbor it is.
The big thing right now are large pump spray paint cans and just
splattering that side of buildings.
Not "expression or art". Just vandalism.
I wouldn't mind some old school graffiti.... but what's happening around here is not.

"Not offensive" is expensive. It's also very subjective. Higher design, in almost every case, costs more to create and/or build.

Wow...as stated before, check out 6X and its impact on the skyline. I don't think we have seen that perspective before in a rendering. If that projection is accurate, it will be simply amazing to see how it absolutely dwarfs anything else currently built in Austin, even The Independent. Truly remarkable building for Austin.

In order to stay competitive with other buildings in the area, it seems they have to build to the competition. Since most of the housing there is basically meh, they can and should match that meh. Going above what is currently on the market would be make it a tough sell when its cheaper next door. Its a meh trap. Hopefully any 300 footers will at least accomplish meh+ status and still be have competitive rates.

The offset windows are both lazy "design" and are making a boring box look messy as hell and looking at renders is actually making me dizzy.

Nice! Any idea when this one breaks ground? This will be a unique spot on the skyline to add height. I will not get tired of the new height allowed in West Campus. So many more homes!

Haha, I love the fact that we have a lot of differences of opinion re: aesthetics on this subforum. Keeps it interesting.
