Ch.G Ch.G, the original part of the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago is indeed the most classically beautiful aquarium structure I have seen too! I can think of no other in the United States (certainly not any of the larger ones) that comes close. I think none of its early contemporaries even exist in their original structures anymore. Here are some more details of the historic part of the building:

I believe all the Shedd's lobby light fixtures are original, including the octopus pendants, installed in 1929 for the aquarium's opening.

Yeah, I wish we could get a real aquarium like that. I love the subject of marine biology. I grew up taking family vacations at the coast. I love the ocean and I'm fascinated by it.
