One of Portland’s Most Popular Food Carts Is Closing Tomorrow to Make Way for a Luxury Hotel
Tomorrow is the final day of operation for the original Nong's Khao Man Ghai, which is being evicted to make room for a new luxury hotel.

As first reported by Portland Monthly, tomorrow, Aug. 31, is the final day of operation for the original Nong's Khao Man Ghai, located in the downtown cart pod on Southwest Alder Street between 10th and 11th avenues.

All of the lot's occupants, which also includes dumpling cart the Dump Truck and fusion cart Korean Twist, have been given notice to vacate by Oct. 7 to make way for the Marriott-branded Moxy Hotel.
...continues at the Willamette Week.

I am really liking how this one is shaping up, it will be interesting to see what it looks like once the facade starts going up.

Thanks for the photo updates. I cycled past this this morning, and really like the brickwork.

This really turned into quite an attractive building. Love the brick colors and contrasts.

This is complete now. I went by recently and noticed the signage for the "Food Cart Alley" but didn't have time to check it out. Does anyone know if there are carts in there yet?

No food carts yet. My understanding is that they are waiting until this summer.

That part of town has become so much more dense and energetic with this and other nearby projects, like 11th/ Washington and The Ritz Carlton. Those aren't finished of course, but the infill on these 3 former surface lots is pretty great. Miss the food carts though...

There is an obvious spot for the food carts. A paved over O'Bryant Square. Inaction by the city has basically killed food carts downtown.

I wouldn't say that, just because the city lost one food cart location downtown doesn't mean they all are gone. As for O'Bryant Square, it isn't as easy as paving over it because it is actually a building. It's a structurally failing parking garage that needs to be ripped out and filled in, then redeveloped as a new square. I would like to see a food cart park replace it, but the funds to do this just don't exist right now.
