It was about 6 months ago I recall a discussion with one of my relatives about them getting a summer home in the panhandle. Saying how it doesn't get hurricanes as much as S.Florida. They might want to reconsider.
Don't get me wrong, the building codes in regards to hurricanes are some of the best (newer buildings), but still.
California is a safer bet, but it is expensive and you have to worry about Earthquakes and rogue NK nukes, but hey! HEY! That's the trade off of living in a weather perfect state. Just don't smoke the wrong type of grass, because you might become paranoid of NK nukes.

Speaking of crowds, Miami is the 2nd fastest growing city in the U.S.. Good stuff! Austin being #1 and Seattle #3.
