This will always be the case I'm sure. There won't be a point in time where nothing is happening. Those are the two Canadian seasons, construction and winter.

Google maps has updated the area around Summerside PEI. The imagery is from this summer. You can see the roundabout at Granville St. & Route 2 is almost finished.

The update goes as far west as Richmond and as far east as Tryon & New London.

Well the Chaleur region got updated, dates from this summer since I can see my new roof. Also Bathurst got the 3D treatment!

Edmundston was updated, however, it was during the winter time, everything is white!

I didn't explore much, but I noticed yesterday that a chunk of Sydney has been updated. Specifically downtown and Hwy 125 in the Sydney area. Luckily, it was when everything was green.

Charlottetown has newer updated satellite imagery, but not yet updated streetview. (I did pass the google car a few months ago!)

I noticed that! It appears to be from august or early September!

Wonder when they will give Charlottetown the 3D treatment?

Just discovered that Mapquest has aerial images of Moncton that are no more than two months old. You can really see how much Highfield St has changed now.

The mapquest update extends all the way to PEI! The new bypass of Cornwall is now completely visible and the changes made in the Charlottetown bypass this past summer are also now visible. Summerside has a lot of updates as well, in NB, you can see them working in the new highway north of Shediac.

In Nova Scotia you can see the route they have cleared for the new 104 highway as well as a completed 102/103 interchange and up to date work on the 107 burnside bypass and the 101 in Windsor and the 103 in Ingramport.

It looks like mapquest has become the new go to for Atlantic Canada satellite imagery!

Forgot this thread existed (or never noticed it ).

As I noted in the Big Malls thread, Google Maps have updated their zoom function a bit. If you zoom in to some of the bigger malls, in map mode, it will switch to the Mall floorplan when you are far enough in.

Not all malls have this, but it seems to be spreading as they get more data.

I've noticed it for:
* Regent Mall
* Champlain Place
* Charlottetown Mall
* Halifax Shopping Centre
* MicMac Mall.

Mayflower Mall and McAllister Place weren't updated when I looked. Nor was Brookside Mall or Kings Place in Freddy.

Mapquest? What is this, 2001? Did you get there via Ask Jeeves?

Good find on the aerials. Saint John is pretty up to date as well. Not totally sure on Fredericton but i'd assume so based on Timothy Dr.

I was thinking the same thing good for them though if they can regain some of their market share back. If they have the most up to date satellite imagery in Atlantic Canada, that makes me think they must be ahead in other areas of the world as well.

Fredericton is really old. 3-4 years at least old. The Victoria Circle isn't there, nor any of the new buildings down town. The lot for RoyalTSuites (between Westpoint and the Legion) is cleared, and it looks like there is some clearing going on at the 2NC roundabout.

Google Maps sat view is a year or two newer; Victoria Circle is being built and both the Smythe street and Carleton Street buildings are under construction (Smythe street's building is still at the foundation stage). The Centennial Building's back has been torn off and sealed up so it is post-Higg's courthouse cancellation.

Bing Maps is in between both it seems. RoyalTSuites is complete, and the 2NC roundabout is almost complete. The back part of Centennial is still there, but there is a lot of construction equipment there. Looks like there's some very preliminary clearing for the Carleton building as well. (But their map labels are woefully out of date; they still have "Harvest Jazz and Blues" listed on Smythe street where the new building is now)

It looks like Apple Maps' Look Around feature (its version of Google Streetview) is now available in Canada. I like it, it seems more "3D".

Yes, it works well. They seem to have more imagery (smaller steps as you navigate down a street) and the quality is very good. They even have imagery for most of Fredericton.
