The movie theatre is on the corner and what's in the picture. Sounds like they already owned this, and they just recently purchased the commercial building that's sandwiched between the theatre and the Noble Pig Brewhouse.

Finally made it out to the University district in and around TRU. I was really impressed with the campus, the views were unreal from it.

Overview of the sites getting developed.

1. Landmark buildings - Mixed use commercial residential building along McGill Rd. Completed.
IMG_1965 by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/152832480@N05/]

2. Six buildings pretty sure all rentals along McGill Rd. 2 of the buildings are under construction.

IMG_1966 by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/152832480@N05/]

3. Site is currently getting rezoned for 3 building mixed use development. Didn't have it in me to walk over for a closer pic. It's the strip mall above the pond and soccer field in the pictures.

4. New Trades and Technology building - Completed. I like how the building looks to be just dropped in place and built into the rock.

Damn lots of development going on there, looks great! I'm ashamed I've never been to Kamloops before, I grew up in Richmond and we vacationed in Osoyoos so never even went to Kelowna until I was 18! I love to see the medium size cities like Nanaimo and Kamloops doing so well

What happening to 131 Victoria?

Does any know whats happening to 131 Victoria Street? Look like they were turned down by the city the first time around. The small restaurant being build next door also seems to be holding them up.

I could be quite the development and plug that ugly hole in the 100 block.

New public market suggested for Riverside Park. The city wants it at the old value village site.

Haven't heard about that one. Looks like the developer put forth a pretty crappy proposal tho. No setbacks on the building and 88% small car parking is pretty bad.

I like the idea of putting the existing parking lot underground and having this on top. I'd rather this here instead of the old Value Village site.

Got out for a walk at lunch today. Quick update of some downtown projects.

Biggest eyesore getting demo'd! Looks like a low-rise apartment with commercial on the ground is taking its place. There was a rendering on the fence but didn't make it over. The strip mall to the right is coming down too.

IMG_2700 by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/152832480@N05/]

Hotel 540 getting gutted and turned into a Delta. Its been closed for a couple months now. Just noticed signs on the front for a new lounge and grab and go market at street level which sounds cool. This is right across the street from the theatre above getting demo'd. Parking lot is where office building is getting built. This block is also getting a street diet from 4 lanes to 2 lanes and wider sidewalks next year. Will be quite the change in a few years.

Great pictures. A revitalization of the part of Victoria street where the 540 was is sorely needed. Putting a new Delta in there would provide the Sandman Signature some competition for a premiere hotel in the downtown part of the city.

Nice shot! Can't wait to explore that park this spring with my bike. Largest municipal park in the province comes with some pretty nice views.

^ Interesting, I did not know that. Next time we're up at our place on Bridge Lake and need to head down to Kamloops for supplies perhaps we'll stop & check it out

Huge parks in Kamloops. I used to live there, but now I'm in the Okanagan that has worse traffic and fewer parks. The only downside to Kamloops is the pulp mill sometimes blows your direction.

The Kelson Group that's been buying up a lot of real estate downtown have just bought the Paramount theatre on 5th and Victoria Street. They shut it down right away for much needed renovations and will be turning it into a cultural hub in the space with film, music, comedy, theatre and other art forms. I think it's pretty cool they're not tearing this building down. Definitely will be an asset to the downtown instead of another condo building.

Right across the street is the Hotel 540 that is still being worked on and turned into a Delta. Crews have been moving stuff in everyday. Think it's supposed to open the end of May. KPMG is now fully in on the entire main floor.

Probably one of the coolest projects to watch is the art installation on the Lansdowne parkade. They started a couple weeks ago putting the pucks up. Can't wait to see the finished product. The building in the foreground was an A&W. It closed and turning it into a Starbucks. I think that will be 13 once this one opens, haha.

A few more updates from around downtown.

Lightwell building is almost to grade. http://thelightwell.ca/

Royal residence. This building is brutal. It's better than the parking lot that was there, but man is it ugly. Pretty sure that's why none of the units sold and is now all rental units.

Looks like it's almost to grade on the other side and the crane on the left will probably go up soon.

This is the side where the picture was taken.

Was out on the East side of town this weekend and noticed a couple projects. This new Ashley furniture building caught my eye. Looks like nothing special, but when I was coming down the hill I noticed they put residential on top. Hard to see in the picture, but looks to take up the entire roof that would have normally just been wasted space. Thought that was pretty cool and never seen that on a big box store before.

This new village seems to have came out of nowhere. Called Orchard Walk and last I was through here was 5 years ago and none of this was here...... At least I don't remember it.
