This is my take on Portland Oregon, where I reside. First shot is a pic of the skyline a couple of years ago. The next is a mix of proposed buildings and buildings already in progress with callouts and heights. I've added my own version of a tallest for fun. Lastly is the 2nd pic without callouts.

I did the drawings of each building in Adobe Illustrator, and brought them into Photoshop where I placed them accordingly to site on the original photo. Which was taken by mitchE over in the Portland thread.

It's fun stuff doing this even though I'm just a graphic designer/illustrator who's never drawn a building in his life. But I have a strong interest in urban studies and density in general.

Enjoy!

More Portland, Oregon renderings of projects that will be starting within a few months (Park Avenue West) and one that has already has a deep hole dug (ZGF tower). Both will be beauties.

The top image in each are photos from flickr, and the bottom images are the same photos with my Adobe Illustrator renderings layered on the images in Photoshop. There are two different views; from the north to the south (1st set), and from the south to the north (2nd set). The south to north renderings also include the ZGF tower, which is out of view in the north to south view.

Ok, I'll stop confusing you. Enjoy the renders. Portland's one great place to live, and it keeps gettting better!

One of our Austin forumers 'priller' Photoshopped in a model of The Austonian, which is now under construction (crane base has been installed).. The building will become Austin's new tallest in 2009 at 683 feet with 56 floors. It'll be the tallest in Texas outside of Houston and Dallas. For a time it'll probably be the tallest all residential building west of the Mississippi, outside of Chicago of course. There will be more buildings than this in 2009, but this was to show The Austonian. There's at least 4 others that would be complete by then, with several more rising.

Another one with the W Austin Hotel & Residences. The height we've been hearing is 433 feet with 35 floors. They've already had their ceremonial groundbreaking, but it won't actually start construction until later this month or next. The cranes to the right of The Austonian (tallest building) are for Altavida, which is another residential tower, apartments. That building will be 412 feet tall with 37 floors.

Only three of these building's haven't started construction yet, and those three are supposed to break ground in a few months. They are: W Austin Hotel & Residences, 21C Austin, Four Seasons Residences. Two other buildings have started construction, but were photoshopped in here, Altavida, and The Austonian (tallest). There's also another building that is under construction to the far right that isn't high enough to be seen here just yet. It'll be taller than that 2nd building to the right. There's also another 400 footer to the far left which has started construction, but it would be just outside of the frame of this shot and hasn't gotten "up" yet. The tall building to the left with the crane is our current new tallest. It'll be the tallest for about a year and a half until The Austonian tops out.

Cool

Some Google SketchUp drawings by Austin forumer priller

Most of the Austin drawings are his, but he's added some from other illustrators.

An Austin developer is planning to develop a two tower complex in the middle of Downtown Austin that would be a $500 million, 1.1 million square foot project. One tower would be 820 to 830 feet tall with 66 to 70 floors. That tower would contain a hotel and condominiums. A 2nd tower, a 420 foot, 30-story office tower with retail would also be built. Both towers would stand atop an 8-story 1,000 space parking garage. An additional 1,200 parking space garage with 8.500 square feet of retail would be built across the street. The complex is being designed by Cesar Pelli's firm Pelli Clarke Pelli.

priller used New York's 731 Lexington and Chicago's 181 W. Madison for place holders.

Austin's gonna be the third skyline in Texas by 2014 for sure. Somebody pinch me.

New proposed 650 foot, 54-story tower proposed here in a complex of 1.9 million square feet of space.

I love the way our skyline is looking, its very impressive especially when you consider that practically half of our downtown wasnt even there as we know it today just 10 years ago. Looking forward to the next several years of construction...
