Don't you love to see a new park that is a third the size of its parking lot? I think Joni Mitchell had a song about that haha.

Are you referring to Maka Park and the gray area surrounding it? (the last post on the previous page). The gray area are lots for home construction. I don't see any parking lot.

I could probably live with this if it were a couple stories taller and had retail on 11th. Does anyone have an idea of how many units this current proposal has in it?

Also a more recent sketch of it.
What a beautiful looking park thank you for posting

Overview
Wallace Insights Inc. (Applicant), on behalf of Namerind Development Corporation (Landowner), is seeking approval to develop four residential buildings at the Subject Property location, consisting of:
• Four “stacked townhouse” style residential buildings
(two-storey unit stacked above a single-storey ground unit; row alignment).
• 48 residential units in total, which represents “medium-density”.
• All buildings on the same lot (“Building, Planned Group”).
• All buildings three storeys and 11.5 metres in height.
• Indoor and outdoor amenity area and 24 parking stalls.

I do think ground floor retail should be expected for the project to move forward with another redesign.

Its nice that Maka Park is going to have a community garden since that area of the city doesn't have one. But they really should have put it at the south end of Anaquod where the old Pacers Ballpark was. There is high demand for garden plots and there is limited space putting it in the middle of Eastbrook.

Community gardens are typically created by a group of individuals working with the local community association to cover the cost of installing water / prepping the site so in this case it wasn't exactly an either / or situation since the developer is doing it.

Rink at Ruth Buck Park being replaced. Paved surface like the newer rinks for summer use.

I went to check on the Grand Coulee #1 exit, no roundabout yet. https://www.flickr.com/photos/reginaconstruction/

Going back toward Dewdney part of the Grand Coulee access road south of the tracks was ripped up. I think they might be widening it a bit. From that road I could see there were rail cars at the Cargill plant for the first time. A building beside GTEC has CAM Transport on it now. That building had been there a long time, I'm not sure who had been in it. Running out of daylight on the evening rides now. The UFA Cardlock looks fairly bare bones, not even a cover over the pumps.

New aquatic centre construction starts next month, won't open until 2029.

Saw someone post this video of the Grand Coulee exit. Unlisted so no wonder I couldn't find it before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDG2UOw5tmw

If I tell you the answer, do you promise to debate fact with your opinion?

Imperial school demolition has begun. I'll try to get over there tomorrow to get some video, but its hit and miss trying to get to a demo site when they are actually knocking stuff down since most of the work is sifting around in rubble sorting the steel, wire, brick etc.

Video from Wednesday morning, just loading up debris: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcIT5djIy7c

Work continuing on the north joint school. Its just the public side that is opening this fall, the Catholic side is still under construction. New set of traffic lights on Broad and 3rd Ave N beside the school. Some demolition work at Kinsmen Park south. Pole bases installed at Park Street and 13th Ave for a new set of traffic lights just south of Victoria Ave.

I'm guessing the geothermal stuff is going to take a while, but it does seem like a a long time frame.

And it still won't be the largest. I believe Ecole Harbour Landing/St. Kateri (combined school in Harbour Landing) is the largest elementary. My numbers are from last year (so it might be different going into this fall), but I think there were 1,000 kids on the public side, and 700 on the Catholic side. Crazy big.

A few more pictures of the Imperial School demolition work and a video of the 11th Ave work.

In the new section of Westerra the furthest west section looks to be shaping up to be another apartment project. Has the look of parking, not a road in that corner, and the neighbourhood map shows it as a single parcel.

Looking at Regina downtown, there sure is a hotel void in the west. Wondering where you all think a new hotel could be built, and what chain would be the most likely that we are missing?

*Noting Hilton Garden Inn was planned for the defunct Capital Pointe property. ALT Hotels was looking at Regina a while back (2016) and I also wonder if Casino Regina would ever build a branded hotel.
