Given the lack of greenery and the sun angle... I'd guess somewhere between 7:30 and 8:30 PM? Well after rush hour traffic, pretty normal levels for that time of day.

I liked that vid too. I was just a little bit underwhelmed by the Deerfoot though as I never quite got the feeling from the virtual drive of what a burgeoning metropolis Calgary is becoming. Still very cool though.

I took some new photos of the eastern extension of Hwy 407 through Durham Region east of Toronto:

The entire gallery of photos (including larger versions of the above) can be found here:

Deerfoot runs in river valleys for most of its length and and is surrounded by industrial areas in the north and subdivisions in the far south. The closest it gets to downtown is at Memorial and even there its on the opposite side of the Bow River. The city could triple in population and have quadruple the number of highrises and the view down Deerfoot will largely look the same.

Am I the only one who completely doubts the December 2015 completion of the 407?

Does anyone have some updated pictures of the new section of the 401 in Windsor?

This is a subject I've given a fair amount of thought to, and I am not sure. Most of the advanced grading has been completed along the 407, and a lot of the structures are done. If it is not done by the end of 2015, it will be close.

We have a whole thread dedicated to it: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=188722

Also there is a Flickr page dedicated to the construction: https://www.flickr.com/photos/hgparkway/

Example: Highway 401's new western terminus nearly open

A road to nowhere until a new bridge to USA is built.

It's a P3, so the consortium will have to pay penalties if it opens later than that.

The 401 extension westwards through Windsor, is also running late (it was supposed to open in late 2014) so the consortium is paying penalties to the government right now.

The best view of downtown is from Memorial Drive coming in from the east?

That's my video! Thanks for posting haljackey!

To answer your question, it was shot between 8:05pm and 8:20pm on April 7, 2015. Glad you liked the video

That last section of the Whitemud where your video stops has one of the worst road surface conditions I've ever seen. I drove on it once last year and vowed to not go there again until they fix it.

A good drive to take if you're interested is Wye Rd. I just took it all the way today, goes pretty far into the boonies and eventually stops at the highway that goes to Camrose. Very hilly terrain too you wouldn't think it's central Alberta.

How about the 412? I drove by it on the 401 yesterday and it seems like there's still tons of work to do. However I'm not an expert on how long these large interchanges take to build.

Still feels weird calling a highway "the 412".
