Sunday morning - a room with a view: an UrbanToronto member has a great skyline vantage point to watch CIBC Square Phase 2 rise in the gap between L-Tower on the left and the CN Tower on the right.

The tightly-packed cluster of skycrapers to the immediate right of The CN Tower is known as "Southcore" and nearly all are fairly recent builds (the last 4-8 years).

SkyTower @ 312.5m will rise even further right of the CN Tower, to a height just 30 metres below the tower’s famous glass floor.

Just a an aerial view of the proposal posted earlier (Eglinton and Warden in Scarberia).

1920 Eglinton East | ?m | 48s | Madison Group | superkul, Teeple & Turner Fleischer l pre-construction

12 mixed-use buildings up to 48 storeys in Scarborough, from 3 architects. Condo, institutional, office, townhouse and retail.

UT

^^^^
What's particularly interesting in this bird's eye view... all those ghost buildings in the rendering aren't artistic license... they're roughly equivalent to what's in the pipeline for The Golden Mile (too many to list).

The One | 338.3m | 94s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners l u/c

UrbanToronto was off-line yesterday, but The One wasn’t. They poured the next floor slab and super-columns.

Given the long weekend holiday, this is about a 12 day turnaround between floor slabs (15th level now I think)… after seemingly in limbo for months and stuck at level 6 or 7, it’s rockin’ now.

Busy day for Hogtown on the proposal front (again).

433 Front St l m? l 50s? + 40s? l Metrolinx & Dream Kilmer l pre-construction

Big news today: Metrolinx has chosen to partner with Dream Kilmer for a big mixed-use development on a site in the rail corridor, right across from The Well on the southeast corner of Front and Spadina.

A Spadina GO Train Station will be incorporated and rumours include plans for 2 residential towers (one 50+ storeys and the other 40+ storeys)… possibly designed by the same chap who designed the new courthouse beside City Hall
(would kill for two tall pianos on this site).

The site is not part of the mega-Rail Deck ORCA development proposal. Just an at grade rendering released with the announcement so far:

A stunning photo by @wmedia who didn’t mind my 2 minute future scribble below (didn’t have access to my Photoshop obviously so no attempt to be accurate re: exact location, height etc).

Was just looking at the financial district "mountain" in the photo I couldn't resist taking a (crappy) peek at another peak… the southern "mountain" cluster that will emerge in the future from this POV. I just added a CIBC Phase 2 shape to the left of the CN Tower, and SkyTower plus a couple of the tallest Sugar Wharf towers (eventually 6 towers in total) to the right of the tower.

The entire Bloor/Yorkville - south to the lake skyline, will be a panoramic 4 peaks mountain range one day when viewing from Humber Bay.

1. Bloor/Yorkville + 2. very tall u/c and planned projects from College to Gerrard forming a new peak + 3. Financial District + 4. Southcore and waterfront. It's going to be quite a sight.

U of T: Landscape of Landmark Quality | U of T | MVVA l u/c

“A car-free necklace of meandering, interwoven paths is proposed to animate King’s College Circle. A priority is to restrict vehicular traffic and remove all at-grade parking while increasing space for bicycles.

A major underground arrivals court for people arriving by car is located under King’s College Circle and forms a major component in the vision to create a pedestrian-friendly realm”.

In a nutshell, all surface parking is replaced below grade along with an underground arrivals/drop-off court (u/c below)… and then green public realm on top.
