There are 17 high rises under construction in Austin right now. 10 of those started this year. 15 of those 17 are in the core.

Oh, he's talking about the forum gods. We have to sacrifice newbies to appease them for updates.

I was looking forward to the T. Stacy tower and had high expectations for it. Too bad it's gone.

This would've been a spectacular skyline for Austin

The T. Stacy tower was first proposed in December 2004, and has long since been declared dead. You really need to stay focused on current projects.

T Stacy project died in 2006. I was in high school then and remembered when I walked into my English classroom, there was an Austin American-Statesman on a desk with a big picture of the proposed T Stacy project. It was that big, tall box shaped before a current detail renderings emerged a few months later. Good memories.

I can't wait for next Friday's grand opening of Austin's Hotel 21c!

I'm gonna love taking pics next to the Penguins....

Hey guys, before the ceremony, I'll be taking light rail from the airport and stopping by for cocktails at Hotel Van Zandt.... Anyone else want to come? Hehehe

The one flaw in your sarcasm is that the ~9-years in the making Hotel Van Zandt is now topped out.

The funny thing about that project is that they dropped the condos on top as a result of the housing/financial crisis. But condos are back in demand now, so their original plans would be viable today.

A great photo of the skyline Thursday night as a cold front blew through Austin. They were also testing the spotlights in Zilker Park for ACL Fest this weekend.

That cold front was neat to watch. I was outside barbecuing last night when it came through. It was odd because the clouds weren't very wide or thick. I could still see the moon through the clouds even while it was lightning. It was basically in and out of here in like 20 minutes. Right after it passed it cleared up again, and I could see the moon perfectly even while there was still intense lightning off to the east. Also as it was rolling through, I did see them testing the spotlights in Zilker Park for ACL Fest. it was an odd sight last night. Today since the air was so crisp, you could really hear the music in Zilker Park even though it's 4 miles away.

Anyone have any opinions on the Seaholm condos? Advantages, disadvantages? Are the finishes going to be any good? I have a family member looking to buy one.

All of the units were reserved 48 hours after they became available. I believe at least 80% of them are under contract now, and there is a long waiting list for any units they may become available.

The only towers that I can think of off the top of my head that have had serious delays are the Fairmont and the Hotel ZaZa. But if you check the threads for those projects in the Austin sub-forum, things are looking good for those as well.

There are too many projects to keep up with in a single compilation thread. You have to check the threads for each project in the Austin sub-forum.
I don't really care for the sub forums. I only care about projects & developments and infill.

Why can't Austinites just consolidate all highrise and urban infill projects in one thread like other cities on this forum? Why be so weird and different?

The point of the individual building threads is to catch and post every snippet of info, updates and rumors about them. Not to mention so people can ask questions about leasing, amenities and materials. And of course so each building can be critiqued.

And there hasn't really been any bickering in the Austin sub-forum.
