Did the big lighting feature on the Gold towers ever come on line?

Seriously, wish an office or hotel tower would create such a bold lighting feature so we at least have a chance to see it.

good to hear. it is always nice when the guideway is beautified. such a good project to do that is relatively cheap and lasts for awhile.

it was in the contract that that first phase had to be installed and turned on before Christmas.

That's correct. They are cutting it close but it looks achievable. This is going to be great as that stretch of the greenway is pitch black after dark.

Lights were on for the first time last night. They look good, and they can change colours, so fingers crossed for a Christmas-themed colour scheme soon!

I couldn't find a page for NUVO by Anthem at 6075 Wilson, but the debris from the torn-down low-rise apartments are cleared and two excavators are on site. I'll be interested to see how quickly they can tear through the concrete foundation left behind by the previous building.

Projects don't get pages until they are officially under construction

And 'Under Construction' here typically means, crane is up and erected and possibly concrete pours have began.

So this one would still fall under 'site clearing and excavation'.
I'm happy to be corrected on this.

They tend to be pretty good at tearing up old foundations in prep for deeper excavation and these old low-rise walkups tend not to have any more than 2 or 3 levels deep of foundation and underground parkade (if any)

Just seems like it has one level of underground parking. I doubt there is anything substantial foundation wise under there.

They turned them on a while way back for testing with simple patterns and screensaver-type clips/
But then never again after that.

Which is a real shame because I believe this would have been one of the cooler light features in not just the Metro Area but all of the GVA.

... and with so many projects, sometimes it's just easier to lump run-of-the-mill projects that won't be updated often all together in Burnaby Updates, otherwise you end up being like Skyrise Cities where you go crazy trying to find a particular thread.

That is...colorful. I hope they find something tasteful they will stick to. I wonder what hours the lighting will follow? I could see Beresford residents complaining depending on how bright it is in real life.

if it's anything like the Coquitlam ones along North Road they change colour frequently, but not in a flashy way but slower like maybe one hour it will be green than the next it has changed to yellow or whatever. Sometimes they may do an ombre effect from one section to the next.

I've been seeing ads for this one a lot this past week. Contour at Metrotown. It looks to be that proposal for Maywood from a while back.

You're right, 4330 Maywood. Originally submitted in 2017, rezoned last year. SVM Homes are the developers - this is their first high-rise.

Ooh it's a "boutique tower". It's not entirely a unique name as I found one at 6280 Willingdon (28 storeys, 617 units) too.

This one (assuming the info is current) is:
Quote:
The proposal envisions 91 condominiums, with a unit mix of 33 one-bedroom units, 40 two-bedroom units, and 18 three-bedroom units.

The remaining 29 homes will be rental homes, with a unit mix of two studios, 18 one-bedroom units, and nine two-bedroom units.

Residents will have access to a total of 4,500 sq. ft. of indoor amenity space, including a fifth-level multipurpose room for rental tenants and a multi-purpose room on the 21st floor for strata.

Ground-level retail and restaurant units totalling over 13,000 sq. ft. of commercial space will help activate the southwest corner of the intersection of Maywood Street and Silver Street

These are down-facing lights so most of the lighting in the area that would reach the towers is reflected off the ground and diffuse light from the surrounding, and therefore not the sort of bright direct light that is disruptive.

There's a hell of a lot more light that comes from both Bus loop across the road at the mall and from the Skytrain station (both of which are on 24 hours and all night).
If lighting at night is a problem for a person then this is a hardly a place I would have advised them to live at.

Obviously it's a different case as you go farther along west towards Patterson.
I'm not sure how far east the lighting feature will run.

That is a total of 33 acres for new developments! Pretty much the entire neighborhood.

I'm pretty sure the lights are supposed to be installed from Patterson Station all the way to Edmonds Station.
