First Look: 46-story tower

It seems that this week's edition of the Business Chronicle will include the "first look" at a 46-story tower.

Edit: The video actually mentions 2 new towers in Midtown.

I saw that but for some reason I thought it was about Regent's Buckhead tower.

I can't wait to see what this is.

According to Curbed, build out of the retail expansion at Campanile is moving forward and will “begin shortly,” .

I have nothing to base it on but I doubt its 1138. The mention of two new towers makes me think this is a two tower proposal.

It is 1138 Peachtree. Maybe they will be posting renderings later on. The other tower must be the proposal on the St Marks property.

A new plan is in the works for one of Midtown's few remaining premier sites, where a developer has tried to get a project off the ground for a dozen years.

The Trillist Cos. Inc. has submitted plans for a 46-story residential tower at 1138 Peachtree St. The nearly one-acre site today is a parking lot between the Atlanta Women’s Club’s Wimbish House and the 1100 Peachtree building.

The project would include 330 units, Scott Leventhal, co-founder and CEO of Trillist, told attendees at a Neighborhood Planning Unit meeting on April 3. Leventhal also led Tivoli Properties Inc., which began pitching ideas for 1138 Peachtree more than a decade ago.

Well that's dissapointing. For one thing, can Trilist finally make this happen after all these years? And secondly, how can it be a "first look" without renderings?

Pretty disappointing Midtown may miss out on extending the grid on two blocks of the same street.

Do you mean the east/west street grid that is so narrow must people think it's just an "alley way" that is meant exclusively for service vehicles and trash pickup?

People already use 13th st often despite your personal anecdote. You’ll see more foottraffic on it now that WF opened up and it’ll continue to grow as new destinations come online.

The goal shouldn’t be to build build build and push everyone to the same sidewalks and streets. Also doesn’t help 13th st & WP is a two way stop and cars wait in the intersection. Isn’t the most inviting for pedestrians to cross.

^And so frustrating that they let a two-story storage facility be built right next to the beltline. It will be in-between this new building and the Beltline.

628 Edgewood looks great. The skyline is continuing to spread east and west from the connector/Peachtree spine this year. I’m amazed at the growth all over the city in every neighborhood inside the perimeter.

It’s projects like the storage facilities that stress me out and make me remember we still have a long ways to go.

That’s an interesting way to put it. I don’t even consider it as part of the skyline, but you’re right it will be. I think of the high rises around Peachtree as the spine and all the infill occurring around the EST, west midtown, and elsewhere as being the muscle. Ideally we have infill along major corridors throughout the city that connect east and west neighborhoods to one another.

Waldo's appears to be the exact type of infill we should want in the city. Great looking project. Hoping it inspires more infill between the EST and Downtown!
