I can't get enough of this tower. It echoes the best of Art Deco but is decidedly modern and iconic. I hope we get something of this caliber in Long Island City at some point.

Very similar developments. Both are integrated into existing city landmarks. The same developers obviously (JDS). Same architects (SHoP).

The biggest difference between the two towers is that the Steinway (111) will be a super-luxury, super exclusive tower, with only about 65 units total (including some in the original portion of the building).

On the other hand, 9 DeKalb will have between 400 - 500 units, about 20% of that affordable housing. The contrast couldn't be more different as far as that goes. But both will be welcome additions to the city's ever increasing skyline.

Yes....3.... with Long Island City and Jersey City also both having towers very very close to Supertall height.


I must say I love this tower. Are they drilling caisson footings for it now? Or is that just excavation or sheet piling equipment? I can't quite tell from the photos.
