There is a non-office-district part of downtown, too. Try going there instead.
All residential is no better. Escarpment district is even deader than the CBD. Bank, Elgin and the Market are the only areas alive until 2 am.

The windows and cladding look to be of high quality and workmanship. I hereby request Broccolini to be added to the SSP approved builders list.

^ Looks really nice! I love the windows, the dark panels and the little dents with the balconies and walls instead of doing a plain straight facade...

Plus a great infill right downtown! Does Broccolini have any other projects going or coming up?

Broccolini is also doing the Wesboro Connection building. Looks great also.

And they bought Alterna's city block of Albert/Lyon/Slater/Bay a few years ago (note Alterna will be moving to Broccolini's Westboro Connections once it opens).

Here's an article about there current projects and the Alterna site.

My guess is they need to transfer the 25 on site parking spaces previously allocated to the hotel to the condo owners.....some people will not buy a condo without a parking space.

I found what I can only imagine was an early design concept for what would be built at this location. Chmiel Architects, which I understand designed the Slater, have another building listed in their portfolio for a Slater Street Mixed Use Development[/img] beside a building that looks similar to the Brutalist one beside the Slater. Thought I might share the photos.

Anyway, an image of what the penthouse of the Slater should look like is this:

I like the current design, but I would have preferred the other one. All around more striking design.

At least we still ended up with the best looking Alt Hotel in the country.

Looking at MLS.ca it seems there are just 11 units left here. Is that an accurate estimation?

It would appear that progress is going well and owners are due to take occupancy starting within the next month or so. MLS shows just 10 listings remain for this project.

"The 148 room Alt Hotel Ottawa is a real landmark in the newly revitalized business district of downtown Ottawa. An asset for both business people and tourists, the hotel is conveniently located next to shops, restaurants and boutiques, and is a short walk to a Light Rail Transit station."

Just don't fall down the central shaft while they're still building it

$119 per night from April 1 to April 30. Then $154 per night. Single or double beds.
Not too bad.

Very good to see this project nearing completion. We almost bought an unit here (we actually signed the agreement but backed out before the grace period was up) because we thought the location is excellent and Broccolini has a stellar reputation.

I am sure the owners/investors can't wait to take possession. Hard to believe but it will almost be 4 years (Oct 2012) since sales first started for this project.

We were looking for an investment property and the numbers did not work out.

This is not to say it does not work for others.
