Strange I always see excavators dangling precariously over the edge of these holes. Why don't they just use a conveyor belt to get the soil out?

The rezoning application for this project was submitted on April 23, 2013.

5 years and 3 months ago.

The project is a hole in the ground today.

Say 2 years to complete.

It will be over 7 years from rezoning to completion.

This has ALOT to do with our housing crisis. Alot.

A 7 year delay in response to demand is so far beyond ridiculous that it hurts me to comprehend.

While I'm not disagreeing with you in principle, this project is has had some unique challenges. The land swap and the associated legal challenges. The push back from the "New Yaletown Residents", and associated legal challenges. The fact the new Jubilee House had to be build, and residents moved before demolition and site prep could begin. It goes on. Contrast that to The Arc, which, while itself has had challenges at least when it hit development permit stage, they raced. In one year they went from breaking ground to 15 or more storeys and climbing. I don't understand why this one and The Cardero are moving at a snails pace once a shovel hits dirt.

Indeed, I do recall there being issues and lawsuits surrounding the land swap.

I just find this alarming.

This isn't a massive project. Its not particularly special. But it will still take 7 years to deliver 200 units (guessing).

I would be curious to know the average time between rezoning and completion in the City.
