I'm in the same boat this project is #WINNING by my standards ... the Grocery Store and the un twinning of the 2nd tower did it for me!

I'm also on-board with this development. It's positives far outweigh it's negatives.

These boards are from Mid-June but they haven't been posted here yet. Figured some would be interested in seeing them, plus this thread has been quieter then it should for a project of this size. I found the boards on the response to the UDP pretty interesting. Anyways enjoy.

It's moving forward, everything gets paused during civic elections. I imagine we'll hear news on this one before the Q2 2012.

Civic elections were over a long, long time ago. Can we pronounce this one dead (or at least on indefinite hold)?

yeah, the website hasn't been updated since march of 2011, which is pretty weird for a non-suspended project http://www.burrardgateway.ca/news.html

Are they still trying to assemble all the way to the corner at Davie? I always assumed this was the case and why there was such a delay in moving forward.

Just to update, the developers have gone to Bing Thom from IBI/HB to rework some of the
project. Specifically the Toyota 'jewel box' and other elements of the tallest tower. They're also proposing an increase to the floorplate. I'm not 100% sure but the new plans may be submitted as soon as next month.

Thanks for the updates.

It's nice to see this project is not dead. Hopefully, the changes will be meaningful and improve the design.

slenderness was the only thing that could've made this pile look decent

Bing Thom could do wonders for this project.

I second that.

The current design is very disjointed with far too many elements thrown together as a way to create interest. What the towers lack is a certain cohesiveness which Bing Thom can hopefully bring to the project.

Did you hear any updates about the supermarket idea that had been floated around?

There already was a grocery store proposed in the plans from October 2011 so I would imagine there will still be one going forward.

Seems to me (from over here it's more difficult) that there was a kind of 'zig-zag, honeycomb windows effect' thing happening.
Personally speaking, I found this unappealing.
Sorry, but I couldn't see it: is that pattern still there?

Someone mentioned somehere that Bing Thom might be called in
to tweak the design? No; yes?

Anyway, if yes, I think this may become a landmark building, so here's a toast, sort of ....

Is the internet different in France then it is here? You should be able to see exactly the same thing we do here.
The building already made it thru the UDP, so while I expect some tweaking I don't expect we'll see a redesign. Guess I'm one of the few that likes the current design.

The current design is a bit busy but I'll take busy over bland any day of the week.
