Montreal is still at 2 for the city (2M), 4 if you include the entire metropolitan area (4.1M).

Were the other 2, both in Laval? I know someone was gunned down in Laval awhile back while leaving the gym this year.

Oakland is at 18. Definitely trending down from last year where we saw a slight uptick in homicides.

SF is at 16 after a woman was stabbed in Potrero Hill. There were 19 at this time last year.

It looks like this year might pass that Record for the 1st time in History
But to be fair given the Tragedy of Fort McMurray the Municipal Population of Edmonton should have reached 1 Million already this year.

Apparently homicides are up around the US:

U.S. cities see spike in homicides, report says

Homicides across dozens of U.S. cities spiked by 9% over the first three months of 2016 compared to the same period last year, a new report has found.

The report, issued by the Major Cities Chiefs Association on Friday, analyzed crime reported by 63 municipal and county departments from more than 50 cities and metropolitan areas, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington and Miami. Combined, the agencies reported 1,365 homicides through March, up from 1,251 over the same period last year.
The agencies also reported increases in rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults and non-fatal shootings.

Oh, by the way, Tosin007 - Canada's 7th largest metro area - Quebec City - is at zero - the Metro area (around 1 million people) is also at zero.

In fact, Québec city is at 10 months without a murder.

Ottawa is having a bad year, so far - 7 as of May 3, 2016.

Ottawa is bad by Canadian Standards sure. (& least given its crime history). But 7 is still very low/ good for City of nearly 1 Million People. (In the City Limits).

I know Ottawa has more Murders this year (than it usually has). But I still don't consider it "High" Exactly. Its High for Ottawa standards sure, but its still much more likely to finish the year below the Canadian Homicide Averages, than places like Toronto, Edmonton, Halifax or Hamilton.
(Remember it has 7 as of May 16th so far this year). Nearly half the Year is finished. If the Rate keeps up it will have less than 20 Murder's this year how is that somehow "bad" for a City of nearly 1 Million People?
