I know where it is. It's on 44th St & Camelbacks Rd. I used on route 44 all the times.

So I can't go out there. Right now, it's too extremely hot outside. Guess we have wait in the Fall. When the weather is cool it down.

I have heard that Talking Stick Resort did not renew their naming rights agreement, so it sounds like the newly renovated arena will also be getting a new name.

That's true news came down last week. Suns are currently working on naming rights, so you're right about a new name for the arena this season.

I am betting on "PayPal Arena"

Althought "PayPal Purple Palace" would be nice! PayPal is already a major sponsor and doing very well financially so that's my odds-on favorite.

Someone brought up Carvana Center also. Not sure they have that kind of cash as a growing company that is still not profitable, but it's also a nice name.

Any other ideas?

I've been told by guys at the arena that paypal is in fact one of the ones in contention. Haven't heard about carvana and while that's a nice idea of keeping it local, I don't think it's a realistic possibility. I think they'll surprise us all by selling naming rights to a tech company.

There probably won't be any fans in arenas this coming season but it isn't ruled out yet. We didn't get the suite this year so I don't feel comfortable calling the same guys to bug with a million questions. I'll let you guys know if they tell me anything but I'm not on their "be nice to him" list anymore.

Hearing PayPal as well.

Also hearing NBA will defer to local regulations for fans. So some teams could have fans, others not.

My hunch is the suns will start the season with no fans - but will end up at 50% capacity by the end.

This is welcome news. I always hated the name Talking Stick Resort Arena, not only is it a mouthful but represented that Phoenix had no economy beyond resorts and casinos.

PayPal Center or whatever is definitely a step up if we don't have a homegrown sponsor.

University of Phoenix Stadium and Talking Stick Resort Arena had to be two of the worst stadium names ever. One sounds like a college stadium, the other a casino theatre.

State Farm Stadium is great! I hope we get something great for the arena as well!

Has Intel ever sponsored an arena? They have a huge presence here and Intel Arena sounds nice. Maybe, Go Daddy Center? Hell, Uhaul would be an upgrade, just please not Waste Management.

Honeywell, Intel, whatever Taser is called now, Pay Pal, Wells Fargo, Nationwide, American Express all have massive presences. Even local HQ's like Best Western or Carvana, none of them have sponsored a stadium

I was really glad to see State Farm, who's only been a major employer in Phoenix for about 7 years was willing to sponsor a stadium, they have made it very clear they are putting down roots.

The challenge we have is that many of those are B2B and don't see a lot of value in B2C sponsorship. That would eliminate Intel, Taser/Axon, Honeywell.

Amex would be cool, as would Carvana. My money is still on PayPal (no pun intended).

I see Intel growing into this space eventually. There are a lot of sports sponsorships behind the scenes to deliver technically advanced content.

Intel has plenty of B2C business, it's just nerds who consciously choose between Intel and AMD don't follow traditional sports.

In the Bay Area, Oracle has practically no B2C business but sponsored Oracle Arena where the Warriors played and now sponsors Oracle Park where the Giants play since the Warriors moved to the ever-so-generically-named Chase Center. Oracle Arena is now RingCentral Arena if you want an example of obscure naming rights, B2B or otherwise.

It would figure that naming rights follow the money and during the economic doldrums of the late 2000s it would also figure that our signature arena like every other venue would be named after bottom-barrel scraper casinos. I'm still looking to the future however.

FWIW, I think the Ashley Furniture HomeStore Pavilion loses the hardest in corporate naming rights anywhere in the world, it just so happens they were also in Phoenix. *sigh*

Carvana sponsors the Phoenix Rising as well as an F1 team now. Naming rights? Possibly - that would be cool

Not really Phoenix arena news, but not development news either, so posting here as I thought it was worth mentioning.

The New Mexico State Aggies men's basketball team will be temporarily relocating and playing at least 5 weeks of their season in Phoenix. No word on which location they will be playing their season games, but the team will be staying at the Arizona Grand Resort while they are here:

Looks awesome! Pretty cool name too. I can't see Verizon being our arena sponsor but who knows. Maybe they go all-in and sponsor both sites.
